This myspace has been created by MoMentuM PrOduCtiOns to highlight our next piece about the women of Juarez. We are trying to raise money for an organization in Juarez-Nuestras Hijas de Regreso a Casa.Young girls and women have been systematically raped and brutally murdered in Juarez since the early 90's. The police system is corrupt. There is a statute of limitations that states once it has been ten years a case is closed. Period. When there is evidence and eyewitnesses the crimes still go unpunished. The mothers of the victims are threatened, and in some cases beaten, if they push for justice.One woman in particular named Evangelina has estranged herself from her family for their protection. She has been run over by a car. Her oldest son was killed once he became an activist alongside his mother.The organization Nuestras Hijas de Regreso a Casa has compiled documentation proving that the police and other officials are involved. They are continually burglarized. It is also a place of comfort for the women and children left behind. The organization provides therapy for the children. They provide solid meals for everyone when they gather. And sometimes these are the only complete meals they will eat during the week.All of these women are single and very poor. It is very hard for women to find work in Juarez outside of prostitution or other insalient jobs. It is a hard life they live compared to the freedoms we are allowed in the U.S. It is inconceivable the injustices that ARE happening EVERY DAY just below our border. You can see the city of Juarez from El Paso. Some of the murderers escape to El Paso or bury bodies in El Paso.Our goal is to do everything we can to help these women. We want to petition to have the statute of limitations removed and not have these deaths called "natural deaths" as they are now being called. We want to help raise money for them to buy a bus so they can transport the kids to their therapy sessions. They come from all over the city. The women don't have cars and the public bus drivers continually offer the kids drugs. Sometimes it can be very difficult for them to gather.Please help us in our fight against violence against women and girls. These atrocities should NOT be allowed to continue.
