About Me

To all those who believe in the absolute freedom of speech and expression please read and request friendship.
There are so many different opinions, words and expressions floating around on myspace that we forget that each individual has the power to choose what they see, hear and read. Tommy Smothers said it best when he said, "The only valid censorship of ideas is the right of people not to listen." We do not need censors to tell us what is right or wrong, we as individulas are more than capable of making that decision for ourselves. We as individuals have the power to add or delete friends, and better still, we have the ability to communicate our opinions in order to sway others without having to delete anyone. We do not need Big Brother or a generic account named Tom to act as our Mother!!!! We are more than capable of taking care of ourselves and deciding how to act. If I find it offensive I do not have to add as a friend. I do not have to engage a profile. I can delete a friend. I can report spam. You don't like Howard Stern, Jimmy Grahm, Fox News, CNN, and so on........THEN DON"T WATCH. We are not children where we need to run home to our mothers, or Tom, because someone used words to hurt our feelings. Or because we do not understand why others would use those words. What a great site where others can find out what we do not understand just by asking such a question! Imagine if we did that. Then perhaps we might understand the other side of the story and see where an individual, group, or politic is comming from. Then maybe the world would be less of a scary place for some.
With all the different groups of people, politics, religions, governments, clubs and you name it on Myspace, it would be virtually impossible for everyone to agree on the same ideals, opinions, or expressions of ones self. We are not robots!!!! Our ability to think allows us to make decisions seperate from the group. If we can agree on anything, we should simply agree to disagree.
People are being deleted by myspace clearly due to bigotry by individulas or even racism by the gods of the site itself. What some of them percieve as an offense others clearly do not. Hell, if my mother was actually a moderator here, 90% of the profiles would have been deleted, and thats the point! Who can truly be empowered to think for us and decide what I can or cannot see or hear or express? I myself, am the only one capable of that! I am a big boy Tom and others, thanks for trying to walk me across the street, but I can handle it.
Therefore I ask myspace to stop deleting accounts because an individual other than myself has determined they are not approriate. Stop deleting accounts of one group while allowing others in a group to stay on for the same abuses, only because you favor the other group, or view them as politically correct. Remember political correctness is actually a fascist way of elliminating free speech and the ability to disseminate information.
By adding as a friend to this site I support the absolute freedom of speech and expression for all groups and individuals on myspace.

Defenders Of Free Speech

John Stuart Mill
John Stuart Mill (1806-1873) was one of the most influential English Philosopher. His main body of work concerns itself with Utilitarian principles advocating that all moral, social, or political action should be directed toward achieving the greatest good for the greatest number of people. His literary contributions concerning liberal thought are immeasurable. In 1859 he introduced a small treatise named On Liberty. This small 100 page book is the best known and the most instrumental of his writings concerning freedom of speech. A famous quote detailing his liberal thought is found in Chapter one where he says, "This, then, is the appropriate region of human liberty. It comprises, first, the inward domain of consciousness; demanding liberty of conscience, in the most comprehensive sense; liberty of thought and feeling; absolute freedom of opinion and sentiment on all subjects, practical or speculative, scientific, moral, or theological." Below, please find selected writings concerning his views on free speech, freedom of thought and expression.

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.Charter of the United Nations, Article 19

"The Fundamental Law on Freedom of Expression, Chapter 1." Art. 1. Every Swedish citizen is guaranteed the right under this Fundamental Law, vis-à-vis the public institutions, publicly to express his thoughts, opinions and sentiments, and in general to communicate information on any subject whatsoever on sound radio, television and certain like transmissions, films, video recordings, sound recordings and other technical recordings. The purpose of freedom of expression under this Fundamental Law is to secure the free exchange of opinion, free and comprehensive information, and freedom of artistic creation. No restriction of this freedom shall be permitted other than such as follows from this Fundamental Law.

FundamentalFreedoms Of The Canadian Charter Of Rights
2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

""Free speech is my right to say what you don't want to hear." ~ George Orwell
"Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one's thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist" - Frederick Douglas
AN ATTACK ON ONE PERSON'S FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS AN ATTACK ON ALL FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!
"The only valid censorship of ideas is the right of people not to listen. ~Tommy Smothers
Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too. ~Voltaire
If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all. ~Noam Chomsky
"Freedom of speech means that you shall not do something to people either for the views they have, or the views they express, or the words they speak or write." ~Hugo L. Black, U.S. Supreme Court Justice 1963
""If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be ... The People cannot be safe without information. When the press is free, and every man is able to read, all is safe." Thomas Jefferson"

Music:

A freedom lost to one is lost to all. If the rights of society's most vulnerable members are denied, then everybody’s rights are at risk. --ACLU
"The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error. ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859
""Without free speech no search for truth is possible... no discovery of truth is useful... Better a thousandfold abuse of free speech than denial of free speech. The abuse dies in a day, but the denial slays the life of the people, and entombs the hope of the race." -Charles Bradlaugh"
Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime. ~Potter Stewart

Movies:

"""He who would sacrifice Liberty for a little temporary security deserves neither" ~B.Franklin""
"MR. JUSTICE BRENNAN, speaking for the Court, said: "`The vigilant protection of constitutional freedoms is nowhere more vital than in the community of American schools.' Shelton v. Tucker, [ 364 U.S. 479 ,] at 487. The classroom is peculiarly the `marketplace of ideas.' The Nation's future depends upon leaders trained through wide exposure to that robust exchange of ideas which discovers truth `out of a multitude of tongues, [rather] than through any kind of authoritative selection.'"
Under our Constitution, free speech is not a right that is given only to be so circumscribed that it exists in principle but not in fact. Freedom of expression would not truly exist if the right could be exercised only in an area that a benevolent government has provided as a safe haven for crackpots. The Constitution says that Congress (and the States) may not abridge the right to free speech. This provision means what it says. We properly read it to permit reasonable regulation of speech-connected activities in carefully restricted circumstances. But we do not confine the permissible exercise of First Amendment rights to a telephone booth or the four corners of a pamphlet, or to supervised and ordained discussion in a school classroom."

Television:

If you want to know the identity of the real rulers of your society, merely ask yourself this question: Who is it that I am not permitted to criticize?

Books:

"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter." -George Washington (1732 – 1799) First President of the United States
"One’s right to life, liberty, and property, to free speech, a free press, freedom of worship and assembly, and other fundamental rights may not be submitted to vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections.” Supreme Court ruled in West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette in 1943 We have come so far in modern times, yet we continue to run around in circles chasing our tails on the most basic of human rights! One-step forward, two steps back! Unbelievable!"

Heroes:

Kennedy said: "Those who make peaceful evolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."
