New music, anyone?

About Me

'Jerzy Jung’ is Jerzy Jung's real name. And where would you expect that a girl named Jerzy hails from? Of course: New Jersey. Jerzy’s father may have hoped that his daughter would become a prolific songwriter (he is an avid music fan, himself) but at best, he named Jerzy with only the intention of having her stand apart from the masses. Not that she needed a unique name - Jerzy was well on her way to being a little different. A voracious reader, a party was once thrown in her honor for reading over one hundred books - in the third grade alone. By then, her parents' only effective punishment of any wrongdoings was to confiscate Jerzy’s library card. Soon, she easily became enthralled by looking at stories and uncovering their themes. Musically, Jerzy defected from her mother’s early piano lessons and began crafting her own songs which would soon have their own themes - themes of passion and power. A chance meeting with producer/songwriter Alex Houton would lead to the 2006 EP, “You Are More Than The Sum Of All That You’ve Loved,” which began to win Jerzy accolades from the New York Songwriter’s Circle songwriting contest, as well as a featured spot on Rolling Stone Magazine’s website during their “Best Bands Of MySpace”contest. Jerzy searches for her own self-reliance through the power of words with poetic turns of phrase and metaphors like, “I am sand in the hand and salt in the mouth" (from the powerful and majestic “Never Say I’m Afraid"), her velvet vocal tone juxtaposed perfectly to soaring guitar lines and string sections. It wasn’t long before Jerzy became a regular performer at New York’s legendary Bitter End, also bringing her passionate vocals and powerful themes to venues like The Hotel Café in Los Angeles, and The Tin Angel and The World Café Live in Philadelphia.
