Amongst the Russians formed in 2007 after meeting at Uni, probably not knowing what was to come; rock riffs in not so traditional formats, Gypsy Punk Violin wig-outs, blistering Piano playing, cheeky Vocals, Stunt-Guitar heroics, cool-assed Bass, L'sas'd and a sheer disregard for the norm; inspired by the most unusual subject matters and the love for all things that make noise (musical or not...), the band bring energy, love, aggression, downright stupidity, sheer emotion and fun to the stage and their tunes.
Music makes this bands world turn round, just look at their list of influences; it's little wonder that they refuse to sit still stylistically - "rules are there to be broken" sits at the top of the Amongst The Russians mission statement, "Why the F*** not?!?" is their motto. Currently recording their debut Album (the exclusive Myspace mixes are on the player for your filthy listening pleasure) the band are striving to produce something that could only be Amongst The Russians; unique but listenable, fresh yet catchy but most of all fun, unpredictable and invigorating. As a band they draw individually from influences of Rock, Classical, Prog-Rock, Musical Theatre, Pop, Indie, IDM, Punk and many other styles.
