ADOPT-A-CAT NO KILL SHELTER - Checkers and Friends

About Me

I am Checkers and I am proudly taking the torch for our Adopt-a-cat meowspace from my good friend and our Leader Dallas. We put together this page to showcase some of our friends, who, like me, are at the moment living in a very nice no-kill shelter being cared for by wonderful volunteers who make us all feel loved and wanted. We all have unique personalities and because so many people want to adopt kittens most of us are a little older...okay some of us are a LOT older. Don't be shy about messaging me. I can put you in touch with our organisation in a flash if one of us touches your heart. Stick around and enjoy the slide shows, they will change often. .. .. .. .. .. ..

My Interests

Adopt-a-Cat Foundation, Inc. may have to close its doors due to lack of funds. We are Palm Beach County’s only true no-kill shelter maintained and run strictly by volunteers. There are 1.6 million county residents. If everyone donated a dollar the rescued cats and many others) could continue to live in the shelter, be adopted, and provide companionship. If the shelter has to close, these precious lives we have worked so hard to save will be lost. Please donate if you can today. We here at the shelter are always in need of old blankets, or pet beds that are no longer of use to anyone. We accept donations of food, clay litter and toys. All of us can be sponsored even if you can't adopt - please go to our website or peruse us here and see if there is a kitty who touches your heart. Donations of any kind are always welcome and it means my friends and I get to curl up at night in a safe shelter, with no cars, no dogs chasing them and nothing to do but have sweet dreams.

Inga Hanley has given her life to Adoptacat - the foundation she started. This is Inga with Handsome, a very cute boy who you will now see has a proud place in our adopted section of photos.

I'd like to meet:

These are some of my friends who live at the shelter with me. We are taken care of by some wonderful people but we hope someday to have a human all of our own to love.

Books:

Hi Inga so nice to meet you and your many feline friends today! The early signs seem good. He squealed a bit on the way home but now he is here he is jumping on chairs, following us around with adoring eyes and has already found the milk bowl, the food plate and the litter box (in that order!). So far we are very happy with him :) I think we will give him a new name but will see which one fits him best. He is quite the elegant cat. We will be staying at home with him tomorrow to ease the settling process, so I will continue to keep you posted. Thanks very much! Fiona and James
Inga, Just wanted to let you know what a pleasure it has been this last year to have this little cat. We got her from you 2006 in January and she made fast friends with our big bulldog. They are great companions. Hope these pics show what a loving animal she is. Thanks for such a successful match. Her name is Tashi – which means “good luck”. The luck has been ours. She’s a wonderful pet. Thanks for all you do in your organization. T and M
