Sherry Finzer is a Pearl Flute Artist in Phoenix, AZ (www.sherryfinzer.com). In late 2006 she released her first solo CD titled "DESERT JOURNEY". This CD is a compilation of songs written by guitarist and composer's Ric Flauding(www.ricflauding.com) and Christopher Caliendo(www.christophercaliendo.com). Currently, Sherry is recording 2 new CD's. One with world-reknowned flamenco guiatist Drew Diego Bennett, and the other with dulce VAS, a flute, harp and percussion trio with VeeRonna and Andy Ragone. Drew and Sherry are adding a new age twist to the flamenco style. The CD release is expected in the fall of 2008. Dulce VAS's CD, a compilation of spanish, latin, jazz and pop songs, is also expected to be ready for release in the fall of 2008.
Sherry performs in the Phoenix/Sedona area with several professional musicians, including guitarists Drew Diego Bennett, Jacob Tyler Lucas, and Ric Flauding, and also with harpist VeeRonna Ragone and is available for weddings, corporate parties, concerts, etc. She can put together any type of flute ensemble, from solo flute, flute with piano, harp or guitar, flute duo, trio, quartet or flute choir for your event. Sherry also teaches private lessons in the Phoenix area, and at Music Maker Workshops in Ahwatukee.
Sherry also performs classical music and has won three national competitions. She was selected from hundreds of entrants to perform with the National Flute Association's Professional Flute Choir (alto) in August 2007 at the Albuquerque Convention, and in August 2006 at the convention in Pittsburgh, PA. She was also selected to perform in the Newly Published Music concert at the convention in Pittsburgh. Sherry won the Great Southwest Flute Fair's Competition in March of 2006 and 2007 to perform in masterclasses with Michel Debost and Mimi Stillman in Tucson, AZ. She has also won the Rochester Flute Associaton's competition in the Fall of 2002 and 2004.
Sherry performs with DESERT FUSION, a new energetic and ecclectic flute, harp, percussion and vocal group. Sherry and Vee Ronna Ragone have put a new twist on pop and jazz tunes by adding a southwest flair. Desert Fusion performs in the Phoenix area for corporate parties, special events and more.
TRILLIUM FLUTE TRIO is a unique flute trio formed by Sherry Finzer, Leslie Lewis and Hillary Decker. Trillium's styles range from baroque, to classical and modern music. Sherry is one of the founding members of the newly formed flute choir CAFE (Central Arizona Flute Ensemble). This is a larger flute ensemble which plays a wide variety of music, and utilizes all or the flutes in the flute family, including piccolo, C, Eb, Alto, Bass and Contrabass flutes. The ensemble is available for recitals, parties, weddings, etc.
NRG!Duo was formed by Sherry Finzer and Tina Beaton in Rochester, NY in 2003. This high "energy" flute duo released their first CD titled "UNLEASHED" in May of 2005, and recently released their exciting CD of world music titled "WATERCOLORS" in August 2007. Their new CD is comprised or world and latin flute duos accompanied by guitar and percussion. Their CD's are available at www.cdbaby.com, as digital downloads on Itunes or Snocap.
Sherry is the Vice President and Program Chairperson for the Arizona Flute Society, where she helps to bring in guest artists and educational programs for the flute community. She also helps to organize and run the annual Arizona Flute Society Competition which is held every November. www.azflutes.org
