Education
Bryan completed a dual masters degree in music theory and flute performance from Bowling Green State University in August of 2006. He continues to study with Assistant Professor Nina Assimakopoulos http://www.ninaassimakopoulos.com. He has recently commenced studies with Jeffery Zook (piccolo, Detroit Symphony Orchestra).While in undergrad at Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana), Bryan participated in the Honors College, accompanied the Department of Theatre and Dance as a Undergraduate Fellow, and studied oboe outside of this principal degree of Flute Performance, with a minor in Piano. He graduated summa cum laude in May of 2003 after studying with Dr. Julia Larson Mattern http://www.juliamattern.com.
Professional Performing Experience
Mr. Guarnuccio serves as the pianist for the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. He also shares his accompanying skills with many members of the BGSU flute and oboe studios. Bryan also accompanied several competitors in the International Horn Competition of America at BGSU in July 2007.During previous summers he exercised his doubling chops at the Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw, Indiana for the professional summer stock. He has also subbed and soloed with the Bowling Green Symphony (Chaminade's Concertino in 2006) and the Kokomo Park Band (Godard's Valse in 2002). Other professional engagements include the Muncie Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Quintet - a community outreach ensemble, as well as subbing the Muncie Symphony while studying at Ball State University.
Student Ensembles
An avid chamber music player, Bryan has performed in quintets throughout most of his educational career. Additionally, he has played in other groups such as flute-viola-harp, flute-cello-piano, a flute-bassoon duo, and a flute quartet.While at BGSU, he served as rotating principal for the Philharmonia and held a similar position while finishing his undergrad at BSU.
Also a performer of contemporary music, he has performed with the BGSU New Music Ensemble and has worked with composers such as Robert Morris and John Melby and performing their works at various new music festivals in the area.
Teaching Experience
Currently, Mr. Guarnuccio is teaching at Owens Community Colleges (Toledo, Ohio) as well as woodwinds and music theory through the Creative Arts Program at BGSU. While a student, he was the applied flute TA---teaching both applied lessons as well as instrumental methods. Additionally, he has taught freshman and sophomore level aural skills as well as sophomore level music theory. Prior to moving to Ohio, he maintained a private studio through the Greenfield-Central Public High School band program.Masterclasses
Bryan has performed in master classes for Michel DeBost, Robert Dick, Peter Lloyd, Katherine Kemler, Nancy Stagnitta, Terry Sundberg, and Jeffery Zook. He also participated in the 2001 session of the Orchestral Flute Institute with Ervin Monroe and Jeffery Zook.Secondary Instruments
