TABOR is a multi-dimensional ensemble bringing new and imaginative works to the foreground of contemporary music. The members of TABOR combine their unique doubling skills, versatility and artistic verve to create something far beyond a traditional wind quintet. Refusing to be confined to a single genre, TABOR explores a diverse range of musical and multi-media landscapes, including electronics, interactive film, jazz and art installations. They have performed in a wide array of venues; concert halls, museums, galleries, schools, libraries, trains, boats and outdoor parks. Emerging from some of the top music schools in the nation, the members of TABOR hold degrees from Yale University, the Eastman School of Music, Mannes College-the New School for Music, Stony Brook University and the Aaron Copland School of Music-Queens College.
TABOR’s current projects include collaborations with cutting edge composers and artists. Their 2009-10 performances will include electro-acoustic works by award winning composer William Susman, electronics enchantress Meg Schedel, Michael Matthews, C.R. Kasprzyk, Demetrius Spaneas and others. TABOR’s featured project of the season is now brewing…composer Mikael Karlsson + engineer/robot builder Chris McDonald + TABOR = “BOX†an aural/visual presentation exploring technology, image and sound…more to come…
Experienced educators as well as performers, the members of TABOR are dedicated to working with aspiring young musicians through educational performances and outreach programs, summer camps, master classes, coachings and lectures. Since 2007, TABOR has been the Ensemble-in-Residence at the Upper Valley Music Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. This summer, as an expansion of their activities in the New England area, TABOR will offer an exciting summer music program featuring new music exploration at the Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire.
