About Me

Welcome and thanks for visiting! I'm a professional flutist with a Bachelor of Music degree from St. Olaf Collage (no, it's not the town that Rose Nylund is from!)

I've had the opportunity to play for some of the greats including, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Geoffrey Gilbert, and Peter Lloyd. I've received outstanding accolades for my performances and am known for having a tone "as warm and rich as melted butter". I'll be adding some recordings soon!

After taking a brief hiatus from playing, I'm excited to be back! I'd love to connect with other flute enthusiasts, especially those wishing to study in the Chicago area, as well as other musicians who may be interested in playing together. Guitarists, pianists, and harpists are always welcome!!

About my teaching
My instruction includes, not only basic flute repertoire, studies, and the like, but also a hint of TTouch. I became a certified TTouch practitioner in August of 2006. TTouch can be a wonderful tool for helping musicians reduce stress and tension while becoming more balanced, centered, and grounded. It can also help one to become more mindful of their playing, notes, phrasing, body posture, accompanist (!), etc.

I look forward to sharing this unique teaching style with you.

What were my fingers drinking?

Took my flute out today, just like any other day... put it up to my mouth, proceeded to play, then... BLAM! I knew this moment was coming. That moment when your beautiful, clear tone goes to pot and y...

The one that got away

I thought the rod was going to break in two. My Dad was standing ready with the net. "This is a big one!" The fish took a dive under the boat, just about taking me and the rod with him, then... SNAP!!...
