AMERICA: Time to **WAKE-UP** from our deep sleep!

------------------------------------------------------------ ------------
Raised in Miami, Florida and moved back to my heritage of Central Pennsylvania over twelve years ago. I’m right were I’m suppose to be – Happy Valley, Pennsylvania. I like the simple qualities of life and loving all the challenges that life has to offer. Helping people and being involved with human social causes is my passion. As a Christian I believe it is our human responsibility to “Call to Renewal." I strongly believe in Sojourners/Call to Renewal mission: "to articulate the biblical call to social justice, inspiring hope and building a movement to transform individuals, communities, the church, and the world." WWJD?
My other passion is helping maintain and restore constitutional liberties, rights & privileges through active participation in American civics.
I strongly support in safeguarding the separation of church and state and protecting religious liberty. We must not become a theocracy. The separation of church and state is a legal and political principle derived from the First Amendment to the United States Constitution which reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”
Although never stated in the Constitution, the phrase “separation of church and state” was traced to a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists in Connecticut.
Thomas Jefferson’s Final Letter as sent to the Danbury Baptist Association, January 1, 1802:To messers. Nehemiah Dodge, Ephraim Robbins, & Stephen S. Nelson, a committee of the Danbury Baptist association in the state of Connecticut.
Gentlemen
The affectionate sentiments of esteem and approbation which you are so good as to express towards me, on behalf of the Danbury Baptist association, give me the highest satisfaction. My duties dictate a faithful and zealous pursuit of the interests of my constituents, & in proportion as they are persuaded of my fidelity to those duties, the discharge of them becomes more and more pleasing.
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.
I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection & blessing of the common father and creator of man, and tender you for yourselves & your religious association, assurances of my high respect & esteem.
Th Jefferson Jan. 1. 1802.

With all said, you can view me as a "Christian-Libertarian/Fiscal-Conservative" ...if that makes any sense?

LIBERTARIAN PHILOSOPHY "Libertarians believe the answer to America's political problems is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness: a free-market economy and the abundance and prosperity it brings; a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom that marks this country above all others; and a foreign policy of non-intervention, peace, and free trade as prescribed by America's founders." WHAT IS NETWORK NEUTRALITY?
Network Neutrality — or "Net Neutrality" for short — is the guiding principle that preserves the free and open Internet.

Put simply, Net Neutrality means no discrimination. Net Neutrality prevents Internet providers from speeding up or slowing down Web content based on its source, ownership or destination.

Net Neutrality is the reason why the Internet has driven economic innovation, democratic participation, and free speech online. It protects the consumer's right to use any equipment, content, application or service on a non-discriminatory basis without interference from the network provider. With Net Neutrality, the network's only job is to move data — not choose which data to privilege with higher quality service.
WHO WANTS TO GET RID OF NET NEUTRALITY?
The nation's largest telephone and cable companies — including AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner — want to be Internet gatekeepers, deciding which Web sites go fast or slow and which won't load at all.

They want to tax content providers to guarantee speedy delivery of their data. They want to discriminate in favor of their own search engines, Internet phone services, and streaming video — while slowing down or blocking their competitors.

These companies have a new vision for the Internet. Instead of an even playing field, they want to reserve express lanes for their own content and services — or those from big corporations that can afford the steep tolls — and leave the rest of us on a winding dirt road.

The big phone and cable companies are spending hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying Congress and the Federal Communications Commission to gut Net Neutrality, putting the future of the Internet at risk.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY BIG MEDIA?
Mainstream media is the term often used to describe the collective group of big TV, radio and newspapers in the United States. Mainstream implies that the news being produced is for the benefit and enlightenment of the mainstream population-the majority of people living in the US. Mainstream media include a number of communication mediums that carry almost all the news and information on world affairs that most Americans receive. The word media is plural, implying a diversity of news sources.

However, mainstream media no longer produce news for the mainstream population-nor should we consider the media as plural. Instead it is more accurate to speak of big media in the US today as the corporate media and to use the term in the singular tense-as it refers to the singular monolithic top-down power structure of self-interested news giants.

"The StopBigMedia.com Coalition is an alliance of consumer, public interest, media reform, and other groups that have joined together to fight runaway media consolidation and urge the FCC to put public service before the self-interest of large media corporations."

"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws."

-- Plato (427-347 B.C.)
"There comes a time when a moral man can't obey a law which his conscience tells him is unjust."

-- Martin Luther King, Jr
"Truth resides in every human heart, and one has to search for it there, and to be guided by truth as one sees it. But no one has a right to coerce others to act according to his own view of truth."

-- Mohandas Gandhi
"Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception."

-- Mark Twain, in 'The Mysterious Stranger' 1916
"Behind the visible government there is an invisible government upon the throne that owes the people no loyalty and recognizes no responsibility. To destroy this invisible government, to undo the ungodly union between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the task of a statesman."

-- Teddy Roosevelt, 1912
"We have restricted credit, we have restricted opportunity, we have controlled development, and we have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated, governments in the civilized world--no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and the duress of small groups of dominant men."

-- Woodrow Wilson, in 'The New Freedom', 1913
“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . . Corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."

-- U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864
(letter to Col. William F. Elkins)
"The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling power. Among us today a concentration of private power without equal in history is growing."

--President Franklin Delano Roosevelt
('One Thousand Americans', George Seldes 1947)
"Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear - kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor - with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil at home or some monstrous foreign power that was going to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it ..."

-- General Douglas MacArthur, 1957
"Of all the tyrannies on human kind the worst is that which persecutes the mind."
-- John Dryden, 'The Hind and the Panther', 1687
"Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate systematical job of reducing us to slaves."
-- Thomas Jefferson
"The tyranny of a principal in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy." -- Montesquieu "The greatest tyrannies are always perpetrated in the name of the noblest causes." -- Thomas Paine Therefore... "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." -- Edmund Burke Because... "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything."
-- Alexander Hamilton

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power."
-- Anonymous analysis of Benito Mussolini's Fascist State
"The Fascist State lays claim to rule in the economic field no less than in others; it makes its action felt throughout the length and breadth of the country by means of its corporate, social, and educational institutions, and all the political, economic, and spiritual forces of the nation, organised in their respective associations, circulate within the State."

-- Benito Mussolini, 1935, The Doctrine of Fascism, Firenze: Vallecchi Editore (p. 41)

A KIND OF FASCISM IS REPLACING OUR DEMOCRACY

    CORPORATE FASCISM by LYNN STUTER

IT'S CALLED 'AMERICAN CORPORATE FASCISM!' - STRUCTURE OF FASCISM IS CORPORATISM, OR THE CORPORATE STATE
ARTICLE: IT'S THE CORPORATE STATE, STUPID
"...Unfortunately for Americans, we have come to equate fascism with its symptoms, not with its structure. The structure of fascism is corporatism, or the corporate state. The structure of fascism is the union, marriage, merger or fusion of corporate economic power with governmental power. Failing to understand fascism, as the consolidation of corporate economic and governmental power in the hands of a few, is to completely misunderstand what fascism is. It is the consolidation of this power that produces the demagogues and regimes we understand as fascist ones."

"While we Americans have been trained to keenly identify the opposite of fascism, i.e., government intrusion into and usurpation of private enterprise, we have not been trained to identify the usurpation of government by private enterprise..."

Music:

"...National, International and Independent Artists"

ALL Generations and ALL Styles (Rock, Pop, Folk, Blues, Country/Western, Classic, Latin, Reggae, Christian, etc.) of music A thru Z. Primarly enjoy two areas: Rock Music (American, British, German, etc. - Heavy, Lite, Moderate, Alternative, Funk) and Latin (mambo & jazz) Music (This is my Miami upbringing and diversity)

I love the Canadian Band - BARENAKED LADIES. Their folk-rock-based style encompasses everything from alternative rock to harmony-laced pop to jazzy swing. The band is built on solid musicianship and smart lyrics; a blend of humorous, melancholony, and insightful tunes. Their music maybe simple, but written in perfect rhythem and pacing. A very talented group of musicians.

Movies:

Most everything except overdone Hollywood movie plots with sensational action involved. Wait... that is most everything;-) Drama primarily - "Cold Mountain", "American Beauty", and "October Sky" are to name a few. The classics "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and "The Bishops Wife" are my favorites. Foreign movie would be "Cinema Paradiso" and "The Wind That Shakes the Barley".

Television:

Question: Why is American Television considered a T.V. "medium"? Answer: It's neither "rare" or "well-done". Have not had T.V. for over seven years now ...

I don't believe in T.V.
American T.V. is a CONTROLLED corporate medium that shapes and molds thought (indoctrination) in all aspects (news, policy, entertainment, sport, etc.) to numb the mind or dumbify the American populous. Very very dangerous!

Books:

I love to read! "Reading promotes thinking." There are too many to list, so here are a few:

SOJOURNERS - Christians for Justice & Peace

Founded in 1971, our mission is to articulate the biblical call to social justice, inspiring hope and building a movement to transform individuals, communities, the church, and the world.
"In our lives and in our work, we seek to be guided by the biblical principles of justice, mercy, and humility."RED LETTER CHRISTIANS "The Red Letter Christians are a network of effective, progressive, Christian communicators urging an open, honest and public dialogue on issues of faith and politics.
We believe and seek to put in to action the red letter words in the Holy Bible spoken by Jesus. The goal of the group is to advance the message that our faith cannot be reduced to only two hot button social issues - abortion and homosexuality.
"Fighting poverty, caring for the environment, advancing peace, promoting strong families, and supporting a consistent ethic of life are all critical moral and biblical values."
END THE WAR "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war any more."

FREE PRESS NETWORK ORGANIZATION

'They Who Control The News, Control The Views' http://freepress.net
Free Press is a national nonpartisan organization working to increase informed public participation in crucial media policy debates.
"Our current media system is the result of explicit government policies that are drafted by special interests behind closed doors in Washington, and serving private investors first and foremost, not public citizens. Vibrant, diverse and independent media is the cornerstone of a functional democracy. As corporate-crafted media policies increasingly weaken the foundations of our democracy, people increasingly understand that corporate control of the media is perhaps the most critical issue of our day."

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we’re really talking about peace."
-- George W. BushACTUALLY HOWARD ZINN QUOTE (2002) ON THE WAR Jefferson would not have agreed that dissent is the “highest” form of patriotism. He says that it should be avoided “if possible" in social dialog. But he does not mean to be quiet while your government becomes despotic.
“What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?”
-- Thomas Jefferson*USA PATRIOT ACT
SIGNING OF THE USA PATRIOT ACT OF 2001 "Passed with minimal debate only 43 days after the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Act dramatically expanded the authority of U.S. law enforcement agencies for the stated purpose of fighting terrorism in the United States and abroad. Among its provisions, the act increased the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone and e-mail communications and medical, financial, and other records ; eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions , particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and enhanced the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also expanded the definition of terrorism to include "domestic terrorism" , thus enlarging the number of activities to which the Patriot Act’s expanded law enforcement powers can be applied. "
"...criticized from its inception for weakening protections of civil liberties. In particular, opponents of the law have criticized its authorization of indefinite detentions of immigrants ; "sneak and peek" searches through which law enforcement officers search a home or business without the owner’s or the occupant’s permission or knowledge; the expanded use of "National Security Letters" , which allow the FBI to search telephone, email, and financial records without a court order; and the expanded access of law enforcement agencies to government records, including library and financial records. Since its passage, several legal challenges have been brought against the act, and Federal courts have ruled at least one provision unconstitutional. " The USA Patriot Act must be Repealed!
**This Act broadly expands law enforcement's surveillance and investigative powers and represents one of the most significant threats to civil liberties, privacy and the democratic-republic traditions in U.S. history.**

"If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I’m the dictator."
-- George W. Bush - Washington, D.C., 12/19/2000
"I don't give a goddamn. I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way. ... Stop throwing the Constitution in my face. It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"
-- President George W. Bush, November 2005 (Source: In a White House cabinet meeting to discuss the renewal of the Patriot Act, in response to GOP leaders presenting a valid case that the Patriot Act undermined the Constitution. The Executive Office threatens our Constitution and our Freedom! DETRACTORS OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION SIGNING OF THE U.S. MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT (MCA) OF 2006 "The Act's stated purpose is to "facilitate bringing to justice terrorists and other unlawful enemy combatants through full and fair trials by military commissions, and for other purposes." The bill eliminates Habeus Corpus and bipartisan critics contend that it is unconstitutional. This law has been used to detain "enemy combatants", including US citizens, indefinitely in a military prison without access to a lawyer. "
**Just like the Patriot Act the MCA of 2006 is another blatant attack on our Constitutional Rights & Liberties.**
It has some serious flaws that include:
Grants unprecedented and unchecked authority to the Executive Branch.
Denies any independent judicial review of detentions, both "unlawful enemy combatants" and US CITIZENS.
    Permits evidence through coercion.
Seeks to eliminate accountability for past violations of the law.
Gives authority to the Secretary of Defense to deviate from time-tested military justice standards for fair trials.
PLEASE READ THE MCA. Educate and Learn! The mainstream corporate controlled media does not fully cover this issue. It is the duty of the American citizen to become knowledgeable on the events that are happening. "Knowledge is the systematic elimination of information." You have to see through the junk to gain true wisdom and understanding!

" Habeas Corpus (Latin: [We command that] you have the body) is the name of a legal action, or writ, through which a person can seek relief from unlawful detention of themselves or another person. The writ of habeas corpus has historically been an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action. "
"The safeguard against illegal imprisonment has endured as a cornerstone of legal justice since the Magna Carta (1215). Public pressure on the English Parliament in 1679 caused them to adopt this act, which established a critical right that was later written into the Constitution for the United States. "
I'm not questioning that the executive office doesn't have the power to protect us from spying. I'm questioning that they don't have the power to protect us by violating - The United States Constitution.*
