"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by
gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by
violent and sudden usurpations" Thomas Jefferson
"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
“A Bill of Rights is what the people are entitled to against every government, and what no just government should refuse, or rest on inference.†Abraham Lincoln

"Stand with anybody that stands RIGHT. Stand with him while he is right and PART with him when he goes wrong."
"Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just God, can not long retain it." Dwight D. Eisenhower
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.â€
-- April 1953
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals so that security and liberty may prosper together.â€
-- Farwell Address, January 1961 Martin Luther King Jr
"History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people."
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
-- 'Strength to Love', 1963
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
-- April 16, 1963
"Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time; the need for mankind to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. Mankind must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love."

SOJOURNERS - Christians for Justice & Peace
Founded in 1971, our mission is to articulate the biblical call to social justice, inspiring hope and building a movement to transform individuals, communities, the church, and the world.

RED LETTER CHRISTIANS
"The Red Letter Christians are a network of effective, progressive, Christian communicators urging an open, honest and public dialogue on issues of faith and politics.
We believe and seek to put in to action the red letter words in the Holy Bible spoken by Jesus. The goal of the group is to advance the message that our
faith cannot be reduced to only two hot button social issues - abortion and homosexuality. "Fighting poverty, caring for the environment, advancing peace, promoting strong families, and supporting a consistent ethic of life are all critical moral and biblical values." END THE WAR
"Nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war any more."
-- Isaiah 2:4
"A call for peaceful resolution rather than another disastrous war."
PLEDGE TO VOTE OUT POVERTY
Martin Luther King Jr. famously warned that a "a nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death."’CRY FREEDOM’“In the early Christian communities, the character of the Jesus movement found expression in the abolition of social distinctions of class, religion, race, and gender.â€
-- Mary John Mananzan“There is no dearth of Christian service today. But because much of it is service without prophetic compassion, it is powerless to bring about a radical change in individuals and society.â€

WAR OR PEACE? PEACE! - Peaceful Prevention of Deadly Conflict
"If war is not the answer, then what is?
The practical instruments of negotiation, aid, and development assistance, the psychological instrument of respect for human dignity and equality, and the political instruments of human, juridical, and civil rights provide a more effective, just, and moral answer."
THE 2008 FEDERAL BUDGET: PRIORITIES OUT OF BALANCE
"The decisions that Congress makes about how to spend nearly $3 trillion in federal government funds determines whether the federal government continues to pour hundreds of billions of dollars into the military or shifts resources to proven efforts to stop wars before they start and successful programs to help the neediest in our society."

"The gap between the world's rich and poor has never been wider.
Malnutrition, AIDS, conflict and illiteracy are a daily reality for millions. But it isn't chance or bad luck that keeps people trapped in bitter, unrelenting poverty.
It's man-made factors like a glaringly unjust global trade system, a debt burden so great that it suffocates any chance of recovery and insufficient and ineffective aid."
FREE PRESS NETWORK ORGANIZATION
'They Who Control The News, Control The Views'
http://freepress.net
Free Press is a national nonpartisan organization working to increase informed public participation in crucial media policy debates.
"Our current media system is the result of explicit government policies that are drafted by special interests behind closed doors in Washington, and serving private investors first and foremost, not public citizens. Vibrant, diverse and independent media is the cornerstone of a functional democracy. As corporate-crafted media policies increasingly weaken the foundations of our democracy, people increasingly understand that corporate control of the media is perhaps the most critical issue of our day."
As they say 'they who control the news, control the views.' "Free Press doesn't just educate, they motivate, taking awareness of problems with the corporate-dominated media system to the next level — a movement for change."

RESTORE AND PRESERVE OUR RIGHTS - 'Bill of Rights Defense Committee'
"Are you concerned that the government's warrantless domestic spying, detainee policy permitting torture and removing habeas corpus, and post-9/11 laws and policies such as parts of the USA PATRIOT Act undermine our basic civil rights and liberties and make our country less safe?"

ACTUALLY HOWARD ZINN QUOTE (2002) ON THE WAR
Jefferson would not have agreed that dissent is the “highest†form of patriotism. He says that it should be avoided “if possible" in social dialog. But he does not mean to be quiet while your government becomes despotic.

USA PATRIOT ACT
SIGNING OF THE USA PATRIOT ACT OF 2001
"Passed with minimal debate only 43 days after the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Act dramatically expanded the authority of U.S. law enforcement agencies for the stated purpose of fighting terrorism in the United States and abroad. Among its provisions,
the act increased the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone and e-mail communications and medical, financial, and other records ; eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States;
expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions , particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and
enhanced the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also
expanded the definition of terrorism to include
"domestic terrorism" , thus
enlarging the number of activities to which the
Patriot Act’s expanded law enforcement powers can be applied. "
"...criticized from its inception for weakening protections of civil liberties. In particular, opponents of the law have criticized
its authorization of indefinite detentions of immigrants ;
"sneak and peek" searches through which law enforcement officers search a home or business without the owner’s or the occupant’s permission or knowledge;
the expanded use of "National Security Letters" , which allow the FBI to search telephone, email, and financial records without a court order; and the
expanded access of law enforcement agencies to government records, including library and financial records. Since its passage, several legal challenges have been brought against the act, and
Federal courts have ruled at least one provision unconstitutional. "
The USA Patriot Act must be Repealed!

DETRACTORS OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION
SIGNING OF THE U.S. MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT (MCA) OF 2006
"The Act's stated purpose is to "facilitate bringing to justice terrorists and other unlawful enemy combatants through full and fair trials by military commissions, and for other purposes."
The bill eliminates Habeus Corpus and bipartisan critics contend that
it is unconstitutional. This law has been used to
detain "enemy combatants", including US citizens, indefinitely in a military prison without access to a lawyer. "
**Just like the Patriot Act the MCA of 2006 is another blatant attack on our Constitutional Rights & Liberties.**
It has some serious flaws that include:
Grants unprecedented and unchecked authority to the Executive Branch.
Denies any independent judicial review of detentions, both "unlawful enemy combatants" and US CITIZENS.
Permits evidence through coercion.
Seeks to eliminate accountability for past violations of the law.
Gives authority to the Secretary of Defense to deviate from time-tested military justice standards for fair trials.
PLEASE READ THE MCA. Educate and Learn! The mainstream corporate controlled media does not fully cover this issue. It is the duty of the American citizen to become knowledgeable on the events that are happening.
"Knowledge is the systematic elimination of information." You have to see through the junk to gain true wisdom and understanding! BEGINNING OF THE END...

"
Habeas Corpus (Latin: [We command that] you have the body) is the name of a legal action, or writ, through which a
person can seek relief from unlawful detention of themselves or another person. The writ of habeas corpus has historically been an important instrument for the
safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action. "
"The
safeguard against illegal imprisonment has
endured as a cornerstone of legal justice since the Magna Carta (1215). Public pressure on the English Parliament in 1679 caused them to adopt this act, which established a
critical right that was later written into the Constitution for the United States. "
I'm not questioning that the executive office doesn't have the power to protect us from spying. I'm questioning that they don't have the power to protect us by violating - The United States Constitution.*
