Partnership Of Sound is a collective consisting of two producers, Lawds and Mr. Clutch , who are also heard as MCs alongside Redeem , another MC. There is a guest appearance by Betty Steeles , a singer/songwriter, who infuses the track, Tigerman, with her beautiful vocals.
Lawds and Redeem met back in 98. Working at jobs that provided the financial security that twenty-somethings living away from home require, they both spent spare time nurturing skills and dreams that would become the seeds of the Elplays Entertainment and Partnership of Sound.
Lawds, having spent part of his teenage years as a drummer in a choir, had begun exploring the craft that was beat-making.
Redeem had also began putting the pen to pad and writing.Their meeting meant Redeem got original beats to his verses and Lawds got verses to his beats.
Soon they were both trading verses as Lawds saw fit to infuse the beats with his verbal prose. Whilst posting tracks on a certain strictly-for-unsigned-type sites, they came across an artist by the name Mr. Clutch. One of Clutchs tunes was enjoying presence in the websites top 10 chart, as was one of the tracks by Lawds and Redeem.
After mutual admiration of tracks, Lawds and Mr. Clutch decided to do what, at least on paper, such sites are partly meant for network. They emailed, spoke on the phone, got more tracks online and even went as far as verbalizing the desire to collaborate. A little after that, issues in each artists state of existence meant contact was lost.
About 2 years later, Lawds and Redeem, with more personal development and versatility evident in their music, took a chance and passed some tracks to DJs usually doing sets consisting of a chilled vibe with enough energy to have you getting the soles of your shoes acquainted to the dance floor. It was during such an afternoon that what couldnt happen back when it was a conscious effort happened - Lawds and Clutch where in the same bar at the same time!
The tune playing was actually a work-in-progress by Lawds and a female vocalist.
That said, it caught the attention of the listeners and some went up to the DJ to ask what it was. The DJ, armed with very little info at that moment, pointed to Lawds informing them he was the producer. Moments after the song is effortlessly blended into another sweet track, Lawds is approached by a guy who wanted to know more about what other gems might be up his sleeves.
It was during the mandatory reeling off of the website address that Mr. Clutch overheard the name of the label.
Almost two years and the label name was still fresh in his mind. He turned round to confirm hed heard correctly. He had. He introduced himself; Lawds didnt have to recollect Mr. Clutch and Lawds had finally met!
Unplanned and unwilled.
They simply had to meet.
Four years on , countless mixes, remixes and tracks later, they are providing the music backdrop for the Partnership Of Sound to present to the world, a taste of what is to come...
