My real name is Masi. I'm 21 years old and I was born and raised in Masvingo, Zimbabwe. When i was a kid, the only music/ artist i used to listen to was Michael Jackson - that was before my cousin, Corporal Chief, played some wu-tang music - that was my intro to hip hop music. Most people say that they have been singin or playing an instrument since they were kids. When i was growing up, i actually wasnt like that - i was more of a geek and stuck in school. In 2003, because of the economic crisis in Zimbabwe, i moved to the UK with my mother. I had to take a gap year before i started going to college. Again, my cousin Corporal Chief (or CC) inroduced me to some new music/ artists; to be specific, MF DOOM and Madlib. The feeling was similar to the 1st time you discovered videogames. On discovering these two, i also got to know other artists that became influential such as count bass d, J DILLA, EDAN and many others. In 2005, i was at a friends house and i watched him make a beat on Fruity Loops - It was basic nothing special, but that is how it all started. My first beats were quite whack and empty, and i had a few guys who laughed at me but i carried on practicing. I met EETS on myspace and he told me about sampling. I hadn't actually heard abt this before and he just explained the basics to me while chatting on msn. Fast forward to 2006, i bought myself a MPC2500 and thats where i am.
