No Fakin’ DJs... Kwinzola, Fred and DJ Illson combine 4 turntables and a deep rooted Hip Hop sensibility to create a semi-live/DJ show like no other. And while Hip-Hop is the anchor, a phenomenal variety of music gets in on the act, seamlessly blended and layered with live instruments, samplers, drum machines and more.
Kwinzola is the founding member and the trio’s turntable backbone, and also holds down a residency at Fat City’s legendary club night Friends & Family. Fred is a classically trained musician turned turntablist and producer, whilst DJ Illson is also the turntable talent behind cut-and-paste maestros, the 45 Midgets. Individually and collectively, No Fakin’ DJs are impeccably connected with just about everybody who is anyone in dance music.
Armed with a new mixtape “Give an Example†out now through Fat City, No Fakin DJs have recently rocked dancefloors, boats, tents and tipis at events like the Garden Festival in Croatia, Creamfields and genre bending super clubs Chibuku and Fabric. Playing alongside the likes of Mr. Scruff and the Scratch Perverts and having the honour of supporting some of their heroes and inspirations…Public Enemy, Q-Bert, DJ Shadow and Steinski.

No Fakin’ The Club Night… Set up in 1997 by Kwinzola, brother Paddy and Mr Jonze, the seminal Liverpool club is now one of the longest running Hip Hop club nights in the UK. Since its inception back in independent Hip Hop’s hey day, No Fakin’ has championed true school Hip Hop with many of the genre’s legends and pioneers gracing its stage.From Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc and Charlie Chase to DJ Craze, Nu-Mark and Babu, it has broke new ground along the way with UK debuts from some of the world’s freshest artists like Edan, Madlib and Lootpack. Some of the UK’s finest talent including Braintax, Task Force, Killa Kela and Skinnyman share the spotlight with artists like Siain Supa Crew and the Looptroop bringing Hip Hop from across the globe to intimate surroundings in Liverpool.
