The Swamp Ward Orchestra

Groovin' Eurotrance Folk Dance

About Me

The Swamp Ward Orchestra performs traditional dance tunes and songs from France and Québec on an unusual collection of instruments: accordion, hurdy-gurdy, cello, banjo, voices in harmony, whistles, bass, and various contents of a percussion bag of tricks. The lively sound is medieval meets disco meets square dance--with some modal melancholy from time to time.Special tricks up our sleeve are kids’ performances including story-telling, and dances. Traditional French dancing is easy to learn and exhilarating. It’s a bit like contra dancing but involves more twirling: after we show you the schottische and the bourrée, you’ll never look back!
