About Me

The Ray Noble Orchestra with Al Bowlly - The Very Thought Of You ........... classic track attached to a classic piece of silent film. Al Bowlly was probably the first British pop star (in the way that we know pop stars) and certainly one of the first vocallists to have a name outside of the orchestra itself (the band leader was the celebrity prior to this). Al was at the pinnacle of his career when he recorded this version of this song in 1934 with the brilliant bandleader Ray Noble. It has been covered many times since. Al was the first of the crooner style singers (Bing Crosby later stole the limelight) however Al's career was cruelly cut short when he was killed during German bombing in 1941. OK it's not what you're used to but I've had a lifetime love of this music and it was certainly in the background a lot when Lowlife was in production. Try something different.

The Video SituationAh the headache, now it subsides! Finally I've managed to negotiate my way through the complexities of VHS video transfer and through the hell of video format and file sizing for upload and have managed to get some video up and running in the video section of this site. Unfortunately, I have not been able to retain the picture quality due to file size restrictions. Hope you like them as it's taken me weeks to clean the original VT up enough to get it to play in the first place! I will be adding others to Myspace shortly ...
