Short story long… grew up in Philly til I was 11. Dad in music biz… moved us out to sunny Cali. You can check out the old mans dealio at http://stephenpaul.org/music/. I had my hands on a neve console at 5 yrs old man! Grew up in LA all thru the 80’s and 90’s and went to T.O. High. Moved to Jersey for college, then NYC and back home to LA. Decided to settle down in Venice in 1990 and I consider it my home. Been in bands my whole life and have been producing records since pops gave me my first console… it was a neve sidecar with 1073’s… man I wish I held on to that thing!!!
I was one of the first digital guys around town and my degree in computer science really helped put me one step ahead of everyone. I still use all analog gear up front! Started Klown Records in 1999 and it was extremely successful. 10,000 square feet with 13 rooms and 6 employees. Wow! I must have been nuts! Did a lot of great work there and clients included Motley Crue, Janes Addiction, Pete Yorn, Primus, Prong, The Pixies, The Donnas, Brides of Destruction, Boy Hits Car, Strata, LA Guns, Adlers Appetite, Sugar Ray, Chaka Khan, Liz Phair, John Corabi, Fear Factory, Our Lady Peace, The Union Underground, Drowning Pool, Goldfinger, Mothers Finest, Brian Auger and many more. Had to say goodbye to Klown in 2005 and started Next Level Studios. It's the bomb! I turned it into a medieval castle with nights in shining armor, torches, shields, medieval weapons, huge chandeliers and real bats. Haha. The massive drum room sounds so sweet, the vibe is killer and I have my own private bar/club downstairs with full stage, full bar, booths, tables, stripper stage and a 20-foot stripper pole! I rarely leave (would you?) so I’ve just been pumping out sick records!!!
Dropped out of life to study method acting for 4 years (see video section) back in 1995 and had the time of my life. Learned a lot about myself and one day I'll get back into it when I have time! I'm a Gemini/Scorpio rising so I am a social butterfly, love the spotlight and I’m horny all the time! Hee hee. I have a clear direction and purpose.
Love my life, love my job, love my family, friends and dog. Been married once and learned a lot from it. Not for me and neither are kids FYI (but I love all my nieces and nephews). I've been to jail and never dropped the soap. I've done every drug in the book but don't really remember. I've lived on the edge and fell off a few times. What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger. I live by this philosophy. I'm still here kickin ass and havin way too much fun! Yeeeeeeeeeeee Hawwwwwww!!!
My goals for 2007 are to be less selfish, work harder, don't waste so much frickin money, spend more time with family/friends and travel to new places on the map. Tomorrow is gonna come too soon!
