NEW MUSIC VIDEO for Hello to YOU

About Me

NEW VIDEO for "HELLO TO YOU" directed by Graham BaclagonPHILADELPHIA TV and RADIO APPEARANCESVIDEO FOR "FADE"Los Angeles-based ROSE ROSSI is all about being true to herself through her music.“Making this album has been a journey inward as I strive for honest expression. I am fascinated by people who can embrace who they are and truly be themselves.”That’s ROSE ROSSI, who creates believable, soulful music that can be lilting and sweet…but with a distinctive edge. Her debut CD Hello to You (Brodsky Entertainment) is set for an May 13th release.ROSE’s music is clearly influenced by her heroes such as No Doubt, Blondie, Fiona Apple, The Beatles, even Elvis Presley, yet it has a sound all its own. ROSE is not angry or bitter, and is not trying to change the world. What she is doing through her music is expressing the feelings and experiences that most people (not just women) experience as they travel through life.“While I definitely had something in mind when I wrote my songs, people can experience them any way they want,” ROSE explains. “I have always used music to better understand what I’m going through in my own life. It’s the bond between the artist and the people who enjoy their art; it’s a soul-to-soul connection.”Born and raised in Los Angeles, ROSE was brought up by very forward-thinking parents, both working actors. “I grew up in a household where it was okay to be creative,” ROSE says. “Creativity was viewed to be as valuable as academics. I was 11-years-old when I started writing songs. My mom basically forced me take piano from the age of seven, which I didn’t care for, so I made a deal with her and switched to guitar.” Additional piano studies later brought the good fortune of introducing ROSE to her future musical collaborator/producer Cliff Brodsky. Brodsky taught ROSE piano for a short while when she was 15-years-old, and their musical connection was immediate.“Music as a career was a natural progression for me…it was a combination of my upbringing together with my love for Elvis, The Beatles…even Gandhi, Princess Diana, Marlon Brando, and John Lennon and Yoko Ono. I would become ‘obsessed’ with an artist and get my inspiration from whatever it was I found compelling about them. I have spent countless hours getting to know these icons through the legacies they’ve left behind. They’ve helped me understand the journey of following your dream.”ROSE decided to pursue college for a while, and lost touch with Brodsky. While attending Sarah Lawrence College (and acting as a talent buyer for live musical acts on campus), ROSE met any and all challenges that came her way. “I was invigorated, lonely, explorative, depressed, stimulated, stressed… I was finally out of my comfort zone and really growing up. I continued to play music, but my guitar chops devolved as I focused more on writing and acting. I was very open to all possibilities at that time and studied everything from Contemporary African Politics to Italian Literature. In retrospect, this influenced my perspective as an artist and writer. I see it now as a time that was helping to strengthen my ‘voice.’ I knew I could write songs and perform well, but I was still lacking the confidence to just get out there and do it! I studied abroad in Italy: Florence and Catania, Sicily. I did a lot of writing in Sicily…I didn’t have much else to do there. I tend to use my guitar as a tool to write. My need for expression and work ethic is what I believe has gotten me this far.”After college, ROSE reconnected with Cliff Brodsky, and they’ve been musically collaborating ever since. "When I first heard Rose sing I knew instantly that she had a special gift,” BRODSKY says. “Her unique voice separates her from the others and her charisma, charm, and physical beauty all add to the experience. My job as her Producer, Publisher and Record Label is to develop her as an artist, songwriter, and musician. I've surrounded her with professionals and with that team and our own special musical chemistry, nothing can stop us from making great music."ROSE’s stage presence really makes her unique and special. ROSE smiles a lot and interacts with the crowd…her enjoyment of playing in front of a live audience is palpable. “Every show I play is more and more fun. I love to play to and with the crowd…I connect to them. I like to act out my songs, and travel back to the mindset I was in when I first wrote them. It’s such a gift to perform live. When the audience and I are both into it, it’s an explosion.”ROSE is both a storyteller and a biographer in her songwriting. “My biggest influences are life experiences. Most of the time I pick up a pen to write because something has happened…I’ve felt an emotion that is new and intense, or I feel particularly numb or especially enraged. I’m interested in exploring emotions and passion, and writing is how I do it. I thank God that I am a loner and a bit obsessive at times.”“Hello to You,” the CD title track, “…is channeled from my own conscience,” ROSE reveals. “It’s about life, spirituality, soulfulness. People forget about all of that in their daily lives. It’s important to take time to be quiet, find your inner pulse, your connection. Once you’re in touch with your inner core strength, you are empowered.”“There is a Girl” is a rocker, inspired by an observation about being a woman in today’s society. “ It’s about the roles we get stuck playing, as well as the roles we enjoy playing. There is so much pressure on how women look…boob size, hair…and that’s what we get the most attention for. It ends up debilitating us if we don’t realize there’s more to life than just that. It empties your soul. When the attention stops and you’re by yourself, there’s nothing left. It’s a high-energy song because it’s exciting to get that attention. It can empower you, as long as you truly know you are much more than your appearance.”“Shut Down” is a funky, crunchy groove about…well, about being shut down. “This song is to be taken literally…it’s a play with words. One night I was falling asleep and I just suddenly started thinking about the words ‘shut down’ and all their connotations. It’s not to be taken too seriously…it’s purely for fun. It’s almost like a poem to me…it doesn’t make complete sense. And the music…well, the chords bring me back to the Nirvana phase I was in when I wrote it…”Always true to form, ROSE has big short- and long-term plans for herself. “I want to have longevity, and I plan to tour and travel often. Seeing the world will give me more and more stories to tell through my music. I want to constantly go beyond my comfort zone, and I look forward to the freedom that comes with success.“I intend to keep creating a good repertoire of strong songs that will stand the test of time. I hope to be a strong female figure in rock music that inspires other people to write, be creative, and follow their passions in life.”For further information, please check out www.myspace.com/roserossi.Media Contact:Lesley Zimmerman * Lesley Z Media 310-826-0060 * [email protected]
