Bill Solley born Dec.13,1957 Jacksonville,Florida began playing drums at age 12 and switched to guitar at 13.At age thirteen Bill's family moved to New Orleans and soon Bill was playing in various rock bands in High School and at grade 11 began intensive studies in Classical guitar with Richard Rhodes and Elias Barrio at Tulane University and was awarded the Louis Panzeri scholarship in 1978.Bill received his B.A. from the University of New Orleans in classical guitar 1980.Bill began studying jazz guitar with Hank Mackie,Phil Degruy and Steve Masakowski in New Orleans during the 1980's. and moved to New York 1986.He than began to study guitar with Steve Kahn and Cary De Nigris(New School NY) and also composition with Edgar Granna at the Julliard school.Bill returned back to New Orleans in 1993 and met his wife vocal sensation Kim Prevost in 1996. Kim & Bill won the 1999 B.E.T on Jazz discovery award and have since played major jazz festivals and clubs around the world.Bill married Kim in 2000 and they now have two daughters Rachel and Sophia. Bill was also guitar instructor to "Terrence Howard" in the Oscar nominated movie "Ray".Bill and his family currently reside in Houston ,Texas due to Hurricane Katrina.Bill has performed and recorded with many artist including Arturo Sandoval,Terri Lynn Carrington,Jimmy Smith,Bill Summers and the Head Hunters,Dave Valentine,Bobby McFerrin,Daduka de Fonseca,George Howard, Allen Toussaint,Kim Prevost,Bleu Orleans,Luther Kent,Rick Trolsen,Sammy Figuroa, Amina Figarova,Leah Chase,Irvin Mayfield,Ricky Sebastian,Chris Strik,Bart Platteau along with other greats.Bill is currently performing,producing music and teaching at the Cinco Ranch Conservatory of Music in Katy,Texas and is putting together a method book on his unigue approach to seven string guitar.Bill is also developing his skills as a painter.Bill Solley endorses: Ballabio Guitars www.liuteriaballabio.com Foster Guitars www.fosterguitars.com
