About Me

Tim picked up his first instrument at the age of five. By the age of eighteen, he had picked up 10 more. He concentrates his efforts now on saxophones, ewi, voice, guitar, and hand drums.

While a relatively unknown name, chances are you have heard him on any number of radio and TV commercials, singing the praises of such products as Murray Bikes and Valvoline. He has literally hundreds of commercials under his belt.

His studio work doesn't end with jingles though. He has recorded with many artists such as Nora Wixted, Sally Townes, Big Daddy 'O', Irene Sage, Louie Ludwig and the Dream Kings, and Waylon Thibodeaux. He also recorded with and created the vocal arrangements for Willit Hopkins out of Nashville (a rare apprearance for him in country music). As a result of his vocal work, he is a voting member of NARAS (The Grammys). In 2001 he was named Saxophonist of the Year by Tambalaya Magazine.

He had a brief stint as Musical Director for Ray Peterson (may he rest in peace), writing arrangements and conducting pit orchestras throughout the country. Ray had 7 gold records including "Tell Laura I Love Her", "Corina, Corina", and "The Wonder of You".

Tim is a live performer as well, as you can see from the photos. He splits his work between saxophone and vocals for most shows, but occasionally works as a backup vocalist for such artists as Keely Smith. When not performing, Tim works as a vocal coach.

Influences: Oddly enough, I have been influenced by more guitar players and vocalists than I have been saxophonists. Adolphe Sax created the instrument to emulate the human voice, and as a singer I have an appreciation for that. So...My major influences come from all over the board...From Al Jarreau to Alvin Lee...From Stevie Wonder to Stevie Ray. Brian Wilson is a genious...As is James Taylor. New York Voices have expanded my horizons regarding harmony, as have Take 6. I found it easier to "get" Birdland through Manhattan Transfer’s interpretation. Geez...Every musician that is worth his/her salt has had an influence on me. That’s the beauty and complexity of the art.
Sounds Like: Hopefully... ME!..

New Tunes are Old Tunes

Sometimes you have to dig up old relics that you worked on to see if they are still viable, and (frankly) to see if you are making progress as an artist.  I just added a couple of songs from the ...

What a morning.

I'm amazed. I went to an early hit today expecting it to be another multiple bus-load of tourists, play the same stuff, wish I didn't need the money type of things.  After all, it was at 11:30 in...
