FREON RIG RECORDS

During the long hot summer of 2006, whilst conjuring up their beloved musical potion INVOLUTION, Monte and Bru began to seriously contemplate a plan that had been evolving independently in both of their minds for some time: creating and setting up their own legitimate record label. The freedom of being co-captains of their own ship by controlling every aspect of their output was a prospect too seductive to resist.

Like most musicians, in their youth they dreamed of being signed by the same labels as their favourite bands. These were the labels that seemed to nurture and develop their artists to their highest potential. They wondered if any labels, in this day, could be less about business and more about the unhindered creation of amazing music. Monte and Bru were sure that a few special labels were still in existence, but they didn’t want to spend years sorting the 'chaff from the wheat' and - selling their souls during the process! Looking around at the all the opportunity and freedom in this amazing era of internet distribution, it was clear that this was the real beauty of making music now. They also knew that even the most successful music entrepreneurs like Chris Blackwell, Daniel Miller, Russell Simmons, Richard Branson, Tony Wilson and JayZ - all started somewhere. They felt (like many other artists who decide to go indie) that they are worthy enough and highly capable enough to succeed at it.

Allowing our other artists and ourselves the freedom to grow whilst, at the same time, giving them the security of having a team around to support and advise if necessary. As artists ourselves, it gives us a special perspective of their needs. We respect them and their art; it’s just the way we would want to be treated. Freon Rig represents space, not a straight-jacket”
It is this self-belief and commitment to music and art that has led to the birth of Freon Rig Records. Currently there are three artist/duo on label: MEBA, Merlin's Crandle and Amnium.
