Darfur has been embroiled in a deadly conflict for over three years. At least 400,000 people have been killed; more than 2 million innocent civilians have been forced to flee their homes and now live in displaced-persons camps in Sudan or in refugee camps.

The condition in Darfur has been described as the most terrible humanitarian crisis of our generation. An estimated two and a half million people have been displaced since the fighting intensified in early 2003. Jan Egeland, the UN’s emergency relief coordinator has been known to characterize the situation at hand as an ‘ethnic cleansing.’The civilians of Darfur are being subjected to systematic violence and are forced out of their homes on a colossal scale.

The End Genocide Now Group is starting a new campaign. We are now asking that everybody focus on emailing Oprah to request that she do a weekly show or weekly update on the situation in Darfur. She does support ending the Darfur holocaust. Hopefully with Oprah's support the word will get out and more people will stand up and fight for the innocent people of Darfur's right to exist on this planet. Calling On The Media!

Now is the time utilize the power of myspace and the internet to make a difference in the lives of others. Many groups and individuals here on myspace and across the world wide web are advocating to end the genocide in Darfur. Now, we must all come together in a massive effort to stop the slaughter, rape and plunder because there is power in numbers.

For over three years, the media has neglected to educate the public about the ongoing atrocities in Darfur. As a result, there is a global lack of awareness and concern towards this issue. In many ways, reporting has become a popularity contest instead of a means to inform and raise awareness. We must remind the media that they have the power to affect a positive change. Below are links to contact information of the three largest evening news broadcasts in the US; NBC, ABC, and CBS. Please take a few minutes to email them and show that there are many who are concerned and want to be informed about the genocide in Darfur.
