LEON LACEY " Never say I can't.(You) can do all things through Christ who strengthens you." - Leon Lacey With such a powerful credo, LEON LACEY'S release, "PROPHECY" will move him a few steps closer to his goals. His first experience as a musician came at the Queens New York church that his parents pastored. Where, according to Leon, he was playing drums as early as one year old. At age 7, he added the keyboards to his musical palette and began a journey that would have him creating music thoughout the schoolage years while most kids his age were concerned about toys and cartoons. His group LEON'S INNER VOICE, which was founded in 1995 from the remnants of his award-winning Springfield Gardens High School choir, impacted the NY music scene greatly and even traveled extensively along the eastern seaboard. Thoughout these experiences, Leon also realized a knack for vocal training and encouragement. He used these tools to not only hone top-quality singers, but also uplift them both socially and spiritually. Leon's other strong musical abilities of writing, composing,and producing have also affored him the oppurtunities to be featured on the recorded projects of both nationally recognized and local gospel artists, including Pastor Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir, ("Ain't Nobody Like Jesus"); Bishop Eric McDaniels and the Lord's Church Choir, ("I've Come to Worship You"); J.J. Hairston and Youthful Praise ("Sincerity") and Danny Eason and the Abundant Life Youth Crusade Choir. Leon's musical proficiency has placed him on local and national platforms with acclaimed artists; Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Karen Clark-Sheard, T.D. Jakes, J. Moss and God's Property. Furthermore, Leon's genius has opened doors for him across the Atlantic to the concert halls of France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and down to the islands of the Caribbean. Now, on the brink of receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Musical Education and planning a post graduate degree in film scoring, Leon is prepped more than ever to go forward in "making the world a better place through the love of Jesus Christ." Vis-a`-vis a magazine of unique and annoited compositions, Leon is anticipating that the contents of not only his over 800 song library of impending hits, but the contents of this upcoming "PROPHECY" release will cross all boundaries of culture,race, and belief. To that end, he has crafted an electric, genre-blending, and convention-bending double-CD that percolates with a gumbo of sounds influenced by his love of hip-hop music's lyricists, comtemporary Christian musix's unirsality, classical music's precision, and Gospel music's emotional and experiental honesty. When asked to categorize this, he described it as a soundtrack of ChristianPopUrbanSoul. The title track, "PROPHECY", is a musical and lyrical kaleidoscope that bobs and weaves through various sounds and styles as it not only explains the nature of prophecy to fortell the future, but also confirs the mission God has placed in one's hand. In "THE GOSPEL", we're reminded of the ultimate purpose of all ministry work. Despite the vessel from which it comes or thehub-hub that surrounds it - all singing, all preaching, all teaching should be done to advance the gospel and kingdom of the Savior - Jesus. Continuing in this flow of message music, " DELIVER ME from MYSELF", is another lyrically-intense number that gets a smooth ride on a familiar pop cover. In the tune, Leon implores God to resue him, and us, from our own inconsistencies and idiosyncrasies so that we can better direct people toward Him. Guesting on "PROPHECY" and boosting Leon with their respective mass acceptance and signature flair are gospel stalwarts Donald Lawerence, Pastor Hezekiah Walker, and Pastor Timothy Wright. As if that weren't enough, adding more wattage to "PROPHECY'S" glow is two of gospel's new stable of rising stars, Myron Butler and Nikki Ross. Leon has the ability to infuse Jesus in every note he strikes while appealing to a global audience. He is forging ahead with music that will tear down barriers, mend broken hearts, uplift spirits and indeed deliver prophesies of purpose, destiny, and abundance to the nations and beyond.
