Spangleshifters

About Me

..At the heart of Spangleshifters are two sisters, Sally and Sandra, and their best friend, Chil. S and S started writing songs about three years ago - an attempt to survive full-time motherhood?! - and over the past year we've been making some of them into our debut album, 'Dragon', which we've just completed. The official launch was June 17th at Hootananny, Inverness. You can buy the album by clicking on the link below! It's so easy!!Playing live is our ultimate passion and we're always on the lookout for more places to play. We've mainly played in Inverness and Edinburgh, with venues such as Hootanannys, The Market Bar, Blackfriar's, The Loft (Three Sisters, Cowgate), Bannerman's and Kerbside Prophets (Hamilton's, Stockbridge) all firmly under our belt! We've had some great reviews - NeilFatea said "if the Proclaimers had ovaries they'd be Spangleshifters"! I don't know what the boys themselves think of that comparison, but we were pretty chuffed!! The Association of Independent female artists descibed our music as "truly, truly unique"In May we won the Shandy Showcase on Moray Firth Radio and Jason Shand played us on his show every night for a week!!. Great radio show - 1107am - have a listen! You could also check out Scottish Internet Radio. Jim Murray not only played some of our tracks on his show "The Juke", but he also let us co-host the show with him! Brendan Dowd of "Acoustic Nation" is going to have us in to record a couple of live acoustic numbers in September, so we'll keep you up to date about that!Watch this space for news of where we're off to next! (And if you've got any ideas about venues we could try, please share them with us!) We'd love to know what you think of our music, so if you get a chance to have a wee listen, send us some comments! x x Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

Band Website: spangleshifters.co.uk
Band Members:

Sally Brown: Vocal, Keyboard; Sandra Brown: Vocal, Guitar; Chil: Drums and Percussion

Additional Musicians:Alberto Vizcaino: Guitar; Terry Small: Bass; Jo Baird: Cello, Keyboard; Bruce MacGregor: Fiddle; David Brown: Harmonica
Influences: Everything we have ever heard ever!!!!!!! I think you can detect strong echos of the old Scottish and Gaelic songs we grew up with, although our love of all types of music - from punk to tango, from jazz to reggae - is also there. Chil's many years of experience of being a rock drummer combines with the haunting harmonies of the vocals to give our music a special edge I don't think you'll have heard anywhere else!!
Sounds Like: Spangleshifters. We can't think of anything else it sounds like, but if you can, please drop us a message. We always have trouble with this one!! You can buy the CD "Dragon" here. So give it a listen.TO BUY DRAGON CLICK THE CD COVER ABOVE!!!
