early medieval poetry goes worldmusic

About Me

Late in the summer of 2005, six musicians from Leipzig, Germany, got together under the name of BRANDAN to set sail and explore new waters.
During the year before, two members of the band had been doing research on early medieval poetry in Dublin and Madrid.
The ancient texts they found formed the basis of the the band's first EP "Ich Zoch Mir Einen Valken", which was released already after half a year of intensive rehearsing. Since then, the band has been playing at renowned festivals and locations all over Germany, e.g. at the "Klosterspektakel" in Greifswald, at the "Moritzbastei" in Leipzig and the "Objekt5" in Halle. In January 2007 the band qualified for the regional finals of the so-called "German Worldmusic Grammy" Creole.
