~ ~ ~ Statement by Robert Johnson's friend, Tommy Johnson:"If you want to learn how to make songs yourself, you take your guitar and you go to where the road crosses that way, where a crossroads is. Get there, be sure to get there just a little 'fore 12 that night so you know you'll be there. You have your guitar and be playing a piece there by yourself... A big black man will walk up there and take your guitar and he'll tune it. And then he'll play a piece and hand it back to you. That's the way I learned to play anything I want."~ ~ ~ from "Tommy Johnson" by David Evans (London: Studio Vista, 1971).~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ On A Mission From God, by my Mojo Brother Fat Danny (Dalton) ~ ~ ~ The less you bet, the more you lose, when you win. Not talking about money here - it's a lifestyle philosophy.Music is that art which affects the passions by sound. It is a language of delightful sensation – far more eloquent than words. It breathes to the ear the clearest intimations; it touches and gently agitates the sublime passions. It wraps us in melancholy, and elevates us in joy. It dissolves and inflames. It melts us in tenderness and excites us to war.More powerful than the First National Bank or the New York Stock Exchange; your music is your payment and it's also your receipt. Nobody does it for the money - they do it to get the music - they receive the music. God gives talent and ability so He (She), and we, can receive the music. Not all that we hear on the waves is music. Some is pure merchandise, just as the commercial for the used-car lot. It's only music if it can sustain our emotion when it maters not if money is involved. Yes, there is compensation so that the musician can provide for himself and family - but that's not his (her) payment - the music is his payment and his reward.Well, that's kinda what I'm about. (to be continued)Imagine what a movie would be like without music. See - not a pretty picture - is it? Music is presented in church, government buildings[A national anthem is a generally patriotic musical composition that evokes and eulogizes the history, traditions and struggles of its people, ...], homes, picnics, BBQs, funerals, restaurants, bars, cars, airplanes, trains, hospitals, offices... Think about it - EVERYWHERE! So, I believe the musician and her art are as important and necessary as the surgeon, lawyer, king, politician, chef, pilot or tycoon. In fact, the true musician (as opposed to the rap/grunge noise makers) is doing God's work and that puts them at the top of the food-chain and the bottom of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. ~~~ ~~~

My Interests

Family, Music, Culinary Arts, My Friends, NASCAR ~ Ricky Hirsch tearin' it up at Capone's~~~ Lisa Mills - Singin' the blues

I'd like to meet:

The big black man that comes around the crossroads at midnight, takes your guitar and tunes it, and when he gives it back, you can play the blues like you want to; also Charles Krauthammer, Buddy Guy, Rick Hirsch (did this July 28th, 2007, Los Angeles, CA), Jimmy Hall, Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Willie Nelson, Carl Edwards, Les Paul, Robert Duvall, Loyd Vandergriff (The Human Project), Barry Richman and everybody with their head screwed on right and everybody that knows what the blues is. ~~~ I'd like to have met when they were here: Eddie Hinton, Tippy Armstrong, Tom Dowd, Toy Caldwell, Bergis Meredith, Freddie and Albert King, Albert Collins, Mozart and Beethoven and a ton of others.

Music:

Blues! Man, it's got to be blues. The single best blues song of all time is Jelly, Jelly (ala Macon Hambone Blues) performed by Wet Willie (featuring Rick Hirsch). I say "ala Macon Hambone Blues" because Jelly Jelly is done in the style of MHB. Hambone Blues was performed for the Drippin' Wet album and Wet Willie performed Jelly Jelly at the Roxie Theatre in LA to a crowd that went crazy over it. The reason it never went public was that the song (being over 12 minutes) could not fit on the album and nobody else heard it until the CD was released with Jelly Jelly on it. Anyway, they weren't really known for the blues they played in those days but rather the "Feel-good" music they made. And they made a ton of it!Wet Willie invented some of the best "feel-good music" ever known to man (or woman). To this day, one may be in a real crappy mood and out of nowhere the DJ plays "Keep on Smilin', Spanish Moss, Country Side of Life, Weekend or Lucy Was In Trouble" and suddenly the mood is healed - you feel great. Now that's a power they had (and still do), that was a gift to society that we were not quick to recognize as such in the 70s because we were into flower power and trippin'.Wet Willie reached down into the "music mine" and harvested fruits of soul, blues, rock n roll and country music into "Wet Willie music" - music of their own. It has not been reproduced and cannot be facsimiled. The chemistry of Jimmy, John, Ricky, Jack, Donna, Lewis and their friends and families is what made that music great."I'm a cross-cut saw. Pretty momma wont you drag me across your log..." ----- Now a little Country Side Of Life, Wet Willie, Rick Hirsch ----- Joan Armatrading, Germany - Nice Rick Hirsch solo!Don't nobody leave, without singin' the blues! Joan Armatrading - Ricky Hirsch blisters this thing too!

His name reflects the original name of the city, Shalem. Solomon is said to have been given both "wisdom and knowledge", this is usually taken to mean wise government, the ability to distinguish morally between good and evil, and a thorough understanding of the universe. "Behold I have given you a wise and understanding heart; there has been none like you before you, nor after you shall any arise like you" (Kings 1, 3, 12).The legend of King Solomon's Seal, of the wondrous signet ring which he received from heaven, is common to Judaism, to Christianity and to Islam. King Solomon's Seal, whose base is on the ground and whose tip reaches heaven, symbolizes a harmony of opposites, whose significance is manifold as much as it is multi-cultural. It reflects the cosmic order, the skies, the movement of the stars in their spheres, and the perpetual flow between heaven and earth, between the elements of air and fire. The Seal, therefore, symbolizes super-human wisdom and rule by divine grace. --------------
