Sounds Like: MEMBERS BIOGRAPHYJELLO REED - BASS GUITAR / VOCALSDirty Bird Bassist and band artist, Jello Reed, currently residing in the hills of Northwest Arkansas, has been at home in the Ozarks for well over fourteen years. Originally from Iowa , Jello ventured out west to sunny Phoenix, Arizona and spent thirteen years in the Valley of the Sun. After experiencing another several years of the Southern California scene, Jello was drawn to the beauty and majesty of the Natural State.Inspired at an early age by the musical and artistic realms, Jello pursued a career in the Mechanical Design and Technical Illustration fields, while naturally incorporating a study of Art and Music. As an accomplished Graphic Artist and Web Designer, he now enjoys a comfortable free-lance lifestyle.Encouraged by his best friend and hard-core bassist, Jello purchased his first Bass Guitar at the age twenty-one. Entirely self-taught, his passion and mastery of the Fat Strings blossomed into a love for all stringed instruments. A multi-instrument player, Jello now owns and plays Six String and Twelve String Accoustic and Electric Guitars, Dulcimer, Keyboards, African Thumb Piano, Recorder, Harmonica and a variety of hand Drums...Conga, Djembe, Doumbek, Tar, and the Bodhran. Jello’s 1962 Fender Bullet Bass Guitar and 1958 Fender Bassman Amp, however, stand alone as his passionate instruments of choice...Jello’s early love of the Blues and the British Invasion Bands has allowed him to cross into a very diverse musical style. Comfortable playing Punk and Country and Hardcore Grunge....Reggae and Swing and Boogie Woogie Blues......it just doesn’t matter...
Let’s Rock the house! JahFree...

I’ve been in five different band’s. Runnin’ on Empty, Runnin’ and Gunnin’, Wild Mountain Run, Lace and Leather, and now the Dirty Bird. My influence’s are far too many to mention, but it’s mostly heavy blues and rock. I started playing drums 8 years ago and bass 10 years ago. They are rhythm instruments, so I picked them up very quickly, but my true talent is rhythm guitar. I’ve been singing for almost 30 years now. my true voice is a high tenor, but I’ve adjusted it over the years to sing lead vocals. Sometimes I just have to let it go, because I do have very loud vocal chords. I really don’t know where that came from, but it’s there. My first paying gig was when I was 14 years old, but I really didn’t turn professional until I was 27. Alot of practice and time put in to the music was truly my turning point. Once I saw the crowd really enjoying themselves, I got the itch, and haven’t looked back. I still get totally nervous every time I hit the stage... I love playing, and will continue to play until my deathbed.
