Ancient Device is an ever evolving vision where art meets groove.
In the past it's been asked to describe the type of music Ancient Device falls under... eclectic,
metal, classical, world, jazz, are a few that come to mind, though it's difficult to slap any genre on
the group. A.D. was founded in 2006 by two brothers Riley Ellis (bass) and Kelly Ellis (cello) who
both shared the dream of a band that adopted elements and styles of every type of music they
could get their hands on. The band has strong roots in metal, classical, as well as jazz whose
rhythm they approach in the unique way of bass and cello. A.D. has been quoted as sounding so
catchy and moving that it gives listeners goose bumps. In 2007 while pushing musical limits they
decided to include singer and longtime friend Sean Johnson to reach new heights in vocals and
drummer Kelvin Pratt to give them a beat that would be right in the pocket.
Since then they have been recording there new album "Don't take a fence" and have been playing
shows all around Arkansas and surrounding states. Getting radio play and getting support
from friends like Victor Wooten. A.D. continues to push goals and visions as far as the mind can
explore.
