About Me

Born in Arkansas IN 1980, I grew up around a really diverse mix of music. I can still remember being 3 years old and hearing Sam Cooke,Elvis Presley, Percy Sledge and assorted types of Gospel on the stereo at home- these were my Mothers favorites. My Father, on the other hand, was into musicians and songwriters. I could always depend on hearing Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers band, Steppenwolf and a lot of old blues music from the likes of Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Albert King, B.B. King and then of course Stevie Ray Vaughan. Also, lots of Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and George Jones. I started showing an interest in music around age 10 and went through the "finding my instrument" phases. From pianos to trumpets, I finally landed on the guitar when I was 12. Actually, my parents bought my first guitar for me when i was 3- but I used it as a chair and helped them make the decision to not buy me another until later- way later.Playing the guitar helped me convince my parents to let me quit the crappy school band. Playing the guitar not only got me out of the band at school, it helped me get into things outside of school that were, for me at least, a lot more fun. I immediately started writing songs and have been evolving for 14 years. Throughout that 14 years, I have been in several bands, including Blackbird Sunset, Rivendale, Dysmorphic, Policy and The Chicklettes- along with SEVERAL unnamed acoustic and electric projects alike. All of which were very satisfying... but we always ended up going seperate ways in one way or another. The songs I have written for myself personally as opposed to things I have written to use in a band setting are very plain-jane guitar and vocal stuff that has a lot of what I would call a Modernized Singer-Songwriter type of feel to them. I have attempted here lately to make the guitar more secondary to the lyrics and also create a sound that I am comfortable with playing. One of the things that bothers me the most about music in general is even found in the process of putting this profile together. Label yourself. Try and make people understand what you are. I hate that. I feel that the only way to truly UNDERSTAND an artist is to look at their paintings, read their writings and listen to their music. This music may not be for everyone... and thats ok. This is just what I am doing for now. Another project that I am involved in right now is LOGICAL AFFLICTION. It is THE SINGLE MOST ENJOYABLE band I have EVER played with...EVER. You can check it out by clicking the link in the other column. Also, check out the other links here as well! This is a group of my friends, each an artist and all very talented!!
