About Me

Leon Milo, an American composer and percussionist living in Paris, France, and Natasha Newton, a visual artist from England, met on Myspace on 28th April 2006 when Leon wrote to Natasha telling her how much he liked her artwork. Natasha also admired Leon's music. For many months they inspired eachother, and now they are working together on a project about the city of London. During the course of several visits to the capital over a period of months they will be collecting sounds and images from all over London. Leon will then take these sound recordings - some made on the Underground, others on the street, or in museums, galleries, pubs and restaurants - and Natasha will take the photographs and sketches she has made, and they will work together on a project fusing image with sound.
Their eventual aim is to have an installation at a gallery where they will show paintings and drawings, photography (both digital and Polaroid), short films and soundscapes, all based around the city of London. Leon and Natasha hope that by using both sound and image, visitors will feel completely immersed in the city and that the sound will enhance the images and vice versa. They also hope to help people to see and hear things that would otherwise go largely unnoticed in a bustling city such as London.

Can you help us?
Obviously to get a project like this up and running will take a lot of our time and resources. We have been to London five times to work on the project so far this year, and we've funded all of these trips ourselves. As you can imagine, the costs soon mount up. We are very enthusiastic about this project and we want to be able to turn all of our months of research and work into an interesting and beautiful gallery show/installation. But we have decided we may need some help in doing this - and this is where you come in. We're not asking for you to give us something for nothing, we will always make sure we offer you something in return! Whether it's a mention in the 'thank you' section of our exhibition catalogue, or using your company logo on our flyers, posters, catalogue, or any other promotional material. We would even consider payment in the form of original artwork, signed photographs taken for the project, or musical composition, if you really help us out with something big! These are just a few ideas, we will discuss everything on an individual basis. But if you feel you may be able to help in any of the ways listed below, please contact us here on Myspace. We look forward to hearing from you!
Many thanks,
Leon + Natasha (the london project.)
We need:
*People to help with the promotion of the project and show.
Do you run a magazine or a popular art website where you could give us some coverage, either by writing an article about us and the project, or by offering us advertising space?
*Galleries.
If you have knowledge of any London galleries or possible spaces where we could stage our exhibition, please get in touch with us and let us know, or pass on the contact details, if you have any.
*Printers.
We will need a good printing service as we intend to produce a brochure/catalogue to accompany the show, and also flyers and invitations etc. We may also need someone to help with the layout and design. Maybe you're a graphic design student who would love to gain some experience this way? You will be credited in the catalogue for your work, and it would look great on your CV!
We may add to this list as we advance with the project and become more aware of our needs, but if you believe you can help in any of the ways listed above, we would be delighted to hear from you!
