About Me

My favourite thing is playing gigs. Since I tried it for the first time I became an addict and now...I have no escape and no solution ha!Apparently some people read bios (I do sometimes) so I'll make it brief for you:I recorded my album in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain), which was released in stores in Canary Islands and Internet in June (not I-tunes yet).I moved in London in 2007 and since then I've been playing around in places such as The Troubadour, Cafe de Paris,The Pigalle Club, Soho Revue Bar, Notting Hill Arts Club,Cargo, Cobden Club, Westbourne Studios, The Abbey, The Bullet Bar, Edinburg Festival, Eclipse, 93 Feet East, The living Room,The Regal Rooms (Hammersmith), Jrink, The Halo...etc. Any kind of format is enjoyable:solo, trio, quartet, full band(13 people).I play gigs outside U.K as well mostly in Spain. If you've been in one of them I'd like to know from you. Don't be shy:)You can say how much you enjoyed it (or how much you hated it...).I don't have one of those mailing lists but don't hesitate to contact me or send me a message and I'd be glad to keep you updated about gigs and news. You read everything already...good on you!you must like me...:)

SUSANA LANG - LENTON - 'Give It A Try' (album review)Stressed? Long day at the office? Then sit back and relax to the multi-flavoured tones of Susana Lang – Lenton. Guitar playing, jazz singing, native of the Canary Islands, now making an impact on London stages.‘Give It A Try’ is a groove soaked album, full of style, sophistication and as smooth as a Milk Tray advert. Produced to a glistening finish, her individual vocal talent backed by a band tighter than Johnny Borrel’s jeans, to witch she adds her guitar playing at various points (to the band, not the jeans!) to give the overall sound warmth and depth. Collectively they move seamlessly through Latin, soul, funk and lounge vibes like a knife through butter. With hints of Skye Edwards (ex-Morcheeba) and Madeleine Peyroux, balanced with that slight Spanish inflection, Susana’s voice is an interesting twist on your average female jazz vocalist. It has charisma and soul, character and confidence in abundance, a real focal point for the songs, not just part of the canvas.Lyrically her songs are light-hearted and uplifting mantras to melt away your troubles and enjoy life’s pleasures as you dance the night away. Then walks you home to ambient-lit moods and musings of romance.‘Give It A Try’ will take you from the doldrums to the dance floor, to a romantic candlelight dinner without stopping to take a breath. My advice? Give it a try; I think you just might like it!By Martin KendrickLabel: Unsigned www.myspace.com/susanalanglenton
