About Me

************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ *************************************J. grew up in a musical family in South West Germany. Her grandmother, "Oma Trude", showed her how to play classical Piano from an early age and told her a lot about the secrets in the world and about the people in the Stuttgart, her hometown. Thanks to her father, she also fell in love with guitars in her teens and became a dreamer and songwriter. She taught herself how to play and founded her first bands.Driven by her enthusiasm for music theory, she soon developed an interest for more complex sounds and harmonies, which was mirrored in her guitar playing and songwriting at the time. Inspired by Brazilian artists such as Astrud and João Gilberto, she started playing compositions from Antonio Carlos Jobim and her style was developing more and more towards Bossa Nova. Finally, she moved to London in 2002 to study Jazz composition, following her ambitions to become a professional Jazz musician and to find some happiness in the rain. During her Jazz degree she became deeply fascinated by Jazz improvisation and scat singing. After endless recording and composing sessions from her bedroom (while other students were outside to do what students normally do), she gradually turned into what she is today.A musician writing music that lies somewhere between – Jazz, Brazilian, Trip Hop, Soul, Folk and love songs. She also performs her music live with her band - Rob Pennel(Drums), Harry Scott(Bass), Pedro Velasco(Guitar), Gaz(Rhodes&Moog), Judith(vocals).Compositions inspired by Jobim, Pat Metheny and Kenny Wheeler, are accompanied by brazilian guitars and Rhodes, and carry her voice and transparent vocal arrangements. Favourite singers are, among others: Björk, PJ Harvey, Sade, Billie Holiday, Beth Gibbons, Louise Rhodes, Chan Marshall and Erykah Badu. Jude just finished her M.A. Audio Technology in London, please check out dates for gigs with the band and the band members' profiles! ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ *******
