Gianni Boscarino

About Me

Gianni Boscarino is an Italian pianist and composer based in London. Through his wide musical background (from 70s rock to Brazilian music) and his passionate sensitivity, the sophisticated harmonies he borrows from Contemporary European Jazz become a vehicle to create dramatic emotional journeys in unexpected directions. The band brings together four strong individual personalities to form a unique sound. They have been playing together for four years and gigged throughout London and other venues across the country. After coming to London in 2004 Gianni took a BA music (jazz) at Middlesex University and then a MMUS in jazz performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In the last few years he has met many top musicians and has appeared at many jazz festivals across Britain, including Swanage, Swindon and Corsham (where supported the Stan Tracy trio). Gianni also recorded the album 'Magic Numbers' with the Tim Collinson Quartet, released in May 2007 on 33 Records.Gianni’s music is beautifully enhanced by Chris Williams’s soaring alto sax. Chris is a versatile musician and is an integral part of the experimental jazz group Led Bib (recently awarded for the mercury prize for their las album).Drummer Manu Delago is best known for being one of the world's leading artists on the UFO-like instrument "Hang". Manu has played concerts in more than 15 countries on four different continents. He performed and recorded with great artists such as Shpongle, string players from the London Symphony Orchestra, Austrian pop-idol winner Michael Tschuggnall, the Amadeus prize winner Zabine and Russian Rock star Boris Grebenshikov.Ben Bastin also plays in Sarah Gillespie's band (featuring Gilad Atzmon) and has played in most London top venues (including Pizza express, vortez and 606).What others have said:"This is a great opportunity to witness and marvel at Gianni's already prodigious yet youthful talent at close quarter. He has a fine inventive and percussive attack, worthy of comparison with his fellow jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock for invention. Gianni Boscarino is destined for a magnificent future in Jazz" - Jazz Eddie."The light and vibrant piano of Gianni Boscarino was a revelation as his fingers skipped over the keys painting intricate sound pictures" Mark Sammut, Corsham jazz.
