The Midnight Drives is an exciting new feature film by o-region and Cornish director Mark Jenkin about a broken family’s annual holiday. Colin Holt (Golden Burn, The Rabbit, The Man Who Needed A Traffic Light) stars as Andy, a divorcee who has custody of his two young children over a winter half term, and chooses to travel with them to a bleak, lifeless, out-of-season Cornwall.Divorce has left Andy in a lonely place where a fiery determination to enjoy the limited time he has with his children leads to a strained week of damp accommodation, dodging the rain and following a rigidly scheduled fun packed itinerary to the letter.Though struggling to build a relationship with these virtual strangers Andy is unwilling to waste a single precious minute that he has with his kids. When the strains of the days are over Andy takes his sleepy children on a series of spontaneous, exciting, dreamlike excursions that become The Midnight Drives.The film is being produced by Truro-based production company o-region with funds from Cornwall Film as part of the Target Talent scheme, and is scheduled to shoot in February-March 2007.
