I am a proud mother of 3! And happily married to the man of my dreams, Shawn. Our daughter Mayla is five years old, our son, that goes by Geo, is three and a half years old and our daughter Avaya is already living with God. She was strangeled in the womb by her umbilical cord.
Both Mayla and Geo both were born with CHD (congenital heart defect). Mayla had a VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) and had OHS (open heart surgery) in Sept. 2004. In the OR (operating room) they discovered another hole, an ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) and repaired it too. After 1 year they discovered that the patch over the VSD was leaking and she risked having the surgery agian. Geo was born with PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) and risked having surgery as well. In July of 2006 we went into the cardiologist expecting to set a date for surgery or at least a date to go meet with the surgeon. But when we walked out of that office, my husband and I were on cloud 9. We knew that a miracle had been done! Both of their hearts were completly healed! Thats right, BOTH of their tiny little hearts were completly healed! We are comfident that God had done a miracle in our lives. But sadly, it doesn't always end up that way. Children and babies, even adults with CHD die every single day! And not just here in the US, all over the world. Join me in the fight to spread awareness for CHD.
