Saving Hearts of America is a public foundation, which is hoping to increase education and research for Congenital Heart Defects (CHD).
Facts about CHD
More than 32,000 infants (one out of every 125 to 150) are born with heart defects each year in the United States. The defect may be so slight that the baby appears healthy for many years after birth, or so severe that its life is in immediate danger.
Heart defects are among the most common birth defects, and are the leading cause of birth defect-related deaths. However, advances in diagnosis and surgical treatment over the past 40 years have led to dramatic increases in survival for children with serious heart defects. Between 1987 and 1997, the death rates from congenital heart defects dropped 23 percent.
WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO MAKE IT HIGHER THAN 23%??
Your heart is beating moving the blood around your body, it lets you know when your in love and some times aches when you lose someone or some thing precious to you.
It is mentioned in poems and songs, and taken for granted by most of us. Until we are affected by a problem mostly by our own doing such as over eating, drinking and smoking, we hear people say oh! poor so and so had a heart attack and and is only 30 - 40 - 50 whatever.
Stop and think about the poor children that have not had the chance to over indulge in what we think of as pleasures.Their lives have been marred before they began, born with Congenital Heart Defects.
The songs and poems have no meaning for them as they spend endless amounts of time in hospitals and at home watching from their window as other children play, longing to be running around with them.

The Family Fund was created as part of the foundation, and will serve many different purposes to CHDer's and their families.
Including but not limited to:
Family Connections...talk with other CHD families or CHDer's!
Help with Financial needs of CHD families or CHDer's
Help with the Travel Expenses for CHD family member's during a CHDer's surgery
Connections with Doctors and Health Care professional who are members of The Family Fund to help answer questions for CHD families
Fund Raisers by different members to help donate for CHD research and awareness
The Family Fund was created to bring the CHD community together, it was created to help CHD families get the support that they so deserve, and it was created to help spread awareness about the different effects that CHD has on families.
