making music for all the right reasons

About Me

Thanks for checking out my music page.
I have been playing stringed instruments since I was 5, studied classical cello for 12 years, picked up my first guitar when I was 10. For most of my teen years I was sure I was destined to be a metal guitar god like do many of us, but as life, reality, and fate conspire to set us on a path, my priorities changed direction. I have been fortunate enough to have a successful career that has consumed most of my time and energy for the last 20 years, allowing me the stability and comfort of a great family life in suburbia.
Over the last couple of years, as my kids started to want to learn to play, my passion for the guitar and its music has been rekindled, and I have been finding it necessary for my own sanity and satisfaction to dust off the old chops, and start to put down on tape all the musical ideas that have been floating around my head.
I will endeavour to change the music selections here as they come together and time allows.
Please check out my friends' pages as well. They are a great group of talented musicians of different styles, whose encouragement and feedback help to make this a great place for independent musicians.

Just me, my computer, Korg M1, and my guitars.....

Currently I'm playing a new Hamer Sunburst Quilttop and my old friend, my 1986 Kramer Baretta (first of the pointy headstocks, last of the round bodies, parts made by ESP and assembled in Neptune, NJ).

I run through a Behringer v-amp2 into a mixer and straight into my computer, and record with Cubase for the most part. Drum, bass, and keyboard tracks are all inputted via my Korg M1 in midi, quantized to make up for my imperfect keyboarding, and then converted to audio.

Live I run a rack mountable v-amp pro so I can use the same sound libraries that I record with, powered with a crate powerblock stereo power amp. I have built a custom head to hold my rack gear and a set of 4 single 12 inch speaker cabinets using vintage jensens and eminence from old fender cabs, and control it all with a midi foot controller pedalboard.

Influences: Randy Rhoads, Ritchie Blackmore, Gary Moore, Joe Satriani, Al Di Meola, Allan Holdsworth, Steve Morse, John Petrucci, etc.......as well as soft jazz, latin beats, classical harmonies, and anything else I hear
