Jansen with (Director of the American Vanguard Exhibitions 1961) Professor Jerome Allan Donson at the SW Florida Museum solo show Fort Myers and Urban Perspective. Donson has Directed shows that included some of the greatest painters of our times such as Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg and more.
Noted in Who's Who in American Art alongside some of the most noteworthy men and women in today's art world, Jansen was born 1968 in New York City. A former Non Commissioned Officer in the US Armed Forces discharged in 1997 to become a professional working artist/painter. Mr. Jansen has since emerged as the innovator of Modern Urban-Expressionism, sharing unique urban visions like no other painter to date . Jansen was also selected for The William & Mary Review, that since 1957 has been publishing important scholarly work. He was awarded New Artist of the Year 2005 by the Alliance for the Arts and was one of only 8 American artists to be selected in the print category for the 12th International Print & Drawing Biennial at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art that included intl. Juror David Kiehl, Whitney Museum of Art. The Tampa Museum of Art under/CURRENT/over/VIEW 8 Biennial 2006, under Jury Jeffrey Grove Curator at the High Museum Atlanta named Jansen a winner in it's Statewide competition.
He had his first exhibition in 1974 at New York City's Park Avenue Lever House at age six and later managed to convert his career from a Gulf War soldier to an internationally acclaimed painter. He shares his experiences, emotions, thoughts and observations with his audience through human traces left behind, suggesting a puzzleing dialogue with our subconcious surroundings for viewers to decipher. Educated in Europe and the United States, Jansen is fluent in the German language and conversational Dutch, he has traveled extensively through out Europe and lived in places such as SW and SE Asia. His childhood years were spent between New York City, the Netherlands and Germany.
Jansen has worked on his recent book project with the "Father" of Digital Art Laurence Gartel and (MOMA's) former "Rockefeller Fellow" Jerome Allan Donson and others. Jansens work is in international collections, private as well as Museums, such as the Smithsonian. In 2005, renowned art connoisseur and Curator of the 1968, "des illuminations de Noël" at de l'avenue des Champs-Elysées Jean Marc Alphan helped established the first soley committed Jansen Gallery in le Marais Paris France, the American Art Gallery.

"FROM GULF WAR SOLDIER TO LEADER IN MODERN-URBAN EXPRESSIONISM"
Residing in Bronx New York his first years, Jansen was influenced by the emerging graffiti art expressions emerging in his Bronx neighborhood that was then just taking shape. He later moved to Germany where he was introduced to the old German expressionists and 1900 movement "Die Brueckeâ€. Over 30 years have passed since he managed to convert his life from a Gulf War Soldier and Sergeant in the Armed Forces to transforming ordinary and often forgotten urban areas into lasting icons.
Jansen has become a pioneer in a growing dimension of Urban-Contemporary artists on the internet and international contemporary artscene, that is quickly changing the face of traditional and non traditional art and visual media.
In 1982 Jansen was introduced to graffiti legend and pioneer "WESTONE" in New York who inspired Jansen to paint. Fluent in the German language, Jansen has traveled extensively and lived in places like Europe, SW and SE Asia and grew up between New York City and Germany as a child. Daisy Dee, Germany's number one Talkshow host on Club Rotation VIVA TV, supported and interviewed Jansen on various live show exhibitions in the 1980's. Jansen gained first noteriety in New York City after being a winner at the Russel Simmons sponsored ORB.E competition and new talent search as semifinalist with his artist elias name (MEPS-MILLENNIUM)in 1999. He has become one of the most sought after painters amongst collectors over the last years.
Some of you may remember Jansen standing on the corner of Prince Street & Broadway in lower Manhattan in 1999 where he sold his work on the street. Since then, he was commissioned by Ford Motor Company Dearmorn Michigan as their Centennial artist in 2003 where he showed at the Charles H. Wright Museum.
The Paris Magazine Zurban, named Jansen alongside Robert Rauschenberg and Jean Michel Basquiat in 2006. They state: “He shares his experiences and observations with his audience through objects and human traces that are found in urban areas however opts the figurativeâ€.
