Born into a musical atmosphere, João Rabello belongs to the fourth generation of a family involved by the acoustic guitar. On his mother’s side, the influence of his great-grandfather encouraged his uncle, Raphael Rabello, to dedicate himself to this instrument from an early age, eventually becoming one of the most important acoustic guitarists in brazilian music history and one João Rabello’s main musical references. On his father’s side, his grandfather Cesar Faria, acoustic guitarist with the legendary “choro†group “Época de Ouro†(The Golden Era) raised his family within a musically rich environment and this contributed to the making of another important musician in the Brazilian musical scenario - Paulinho da Viola: a composer, a singer, an acoustic guitarist, the father and another strong reference for João Rabello. As from 2004, he started to dedicate himself exclusively to his work as an acoustic guitarist. Due to his grandfather Cesar’s leaving Paulinho da Viola’s band (after more than 30 years as the ensemble’s guitarrist’s, Cesar took leave on account of his advancing years), he started to play with his father’s musical group, which brought him the opportunity to present part of his work as a soloist. Side-by-side with Paulinho da Viola, he traveled to various cities in Brazil and debuted on the international stage in New York, where these generations (Cesar Faria, Paulinho da Viola and João Rabello) presented themselves in the year of 2004. In 2006, he produced his first CD, ROENDO AS UNHAS (BITING ONE’S NAILS).
