**The New Album**

**Some Early Press on "A Closer Walk..."**
"Call it experience, or the benefits of age, but whatever it is, it helps Yeltsin wipe the floor with their younger rock cohorts." Portland Mercury
"Aside from having one of the best sacreligious album titles of all-time, Eugene/Portland trio Yeltsin’s A Closer Walk with Yeltsin has many a fine rock and roll moment. “The Stranger Machine” is one of them. Hinting at Built to Spill influences with tumbling, wiry instrumentation and postmodern nursery rhyme lyrics, Yeltsin blasts jangle-rock about us humans being a strange species. (Originally I thought it was about a machine that produced strangers, as the “The” would imply. But now I think it’s about how weird people are.) My own internal machinery reacts with spasms—I cannot resist bobbing my head to this track. I’m like a dog getting a belly scratch: My body pretty much gives in to the Yeltsin. A closer walk with Yeltsin I could not take." Willamette Week
"But like a piece of handcrafted Amish furniture, Yeltsin's music wears its crisp and clean workmanship on its sleeve; the songs are tightly crafted, catchy-as-all-get-out pop gems." The Eugene Weekly

**The Band**

“Yeltsin are a solid band from Eugene. They sound sort of like a slightly punker Interpol, without all the posturing. The band isn't out there chasing the dream, trying to pen radio-friendly hits, or getting too experimental. Instead they fire it up, shoot back a couple of beers, talk some shit, and come back with tight, driving songs. Over the years, the members of Yeltsin have been in all sorts of indie bands, punk bands, experimental bands, you name it. After all that, they've gotten it whittled down to a pretty fine point.” Portland Mercury
