Born in 2006, Basin & Range has exploded onto the Northwest
music scene with a fresh take on the modern jazz-groove movement. Citing
influences as varied as King Crimson, The Meters, and Medeski Martin and
Wood, Basin & Range weaves together elements of funk, rock and jazz
with respect for both groove and sophisticated harmony. With the current power-quintet of saxophone, keyboards, guitar, bass and drums, Basin &
Range crafts a blend of up-tempo instrumental compositions that are
equally dance-heavy and intelligent. Although a typical set will feature
mainly original material, Basin & Range will also put a new twist on
an old favorite from time to time. Check out Basin & Range at any of
their upcoming events, which you can find listed above.
"B&R plays instrumental music of the jazzy, funky, fusion-y variety, not unlike, say, Medeski Martin and Wood, but with more horns, or Jaga Jazzist, but with a bit more organic groove. Basically, this ain’t your dad’s jazz fusion; these dudes sound like they could hold their own at a rock club."

technically amazing and most crowd pleasing bands in town." - Ethan

"Progressive sax and organ-slathered funk and fusion...Dancing shoes recommended."
