Some if this bio is written in a 3rd party sense the other half isn't - lol - & yeah you can laught @ me about that :)
Jimmy's initial exposure to the recording industry, DJ culture, Street art & music performance began for him at a very early age. At the age of 8 Jimmy picked up & taught himself his first instruments - Guitar, Bass & Piano
While most of my friends at the time were into wilding, Robbery & reeking havoc on society in general. I made the decision that a life in prison wasn't for me so I turned to music - I spent most of my life between the ages of 8-14 practicing & composing music
At the age of just 14 Jimmy managed to obtain a position @ A Tommy Boy Records recording studio (1747 1st ave, NY,NY) as a Jr. recording technician. Where I was expososed to & worked with artists such as Afrikka Bambatta, De La Soul & House Of Pain, to name a few. The position consisted basically of taking out the trash & being a gopher - but @ the age of 14-15 experience was priceless.
Soon later Jimmy got his first taste of performance DJ'ing & performing at block parties as a dj at 17. Within the same time period I formed a a band which performed throughout the NY-Tri state are & at The legendary CBGB's. I spent the most part of my early music career on this path until one fateful day in 1993 that changed everything -
By chance I end up one night @ a rave party @ an abandoned warehouse - The performers were Frankie Bones, Lenny Dee, Adam X, Jimmy Crash, Heather Hart, Scott Henry.
I became obssesively facinated by how the sounds & music were being made & ended up spending most of the time at my first few parties watching all the DJ's & performers do there thing. After a few events it became clear to me that I had developed a serious addiction... Not to drugs, Alchohol. or The beautiful women of the nightlife. but to a new & exciting form of music - They called it "Techno" & after those nights it was needless to say, that I was hooked... like a crackhead payday!
The world of the nightlife & Underground dance music became an obsession & by 94 I started purchasing techno records & building a collection -
Some where along the lines I spent about a year studying composition & music theory @ college.
As well as practicing audio engineering & recording @ various studios
94 - 95 Jimmy gets sucked into the scene & Becomes a regular @ NASA & Caffeine - Started helping friends promote becomes manager @ an indepedent music store Which allows him access to Vinyl distribution centers - which allows him to further his collection & taste
96 - Jimmy joins the Vibe Tribe which members included established DJ's James Christian, Osheen & Chris Hall- a Rave production company & gets his first taste of Residency & playing alongside top rate talent & Promoting large scale events with international lineups
98 - Jimmy is noticed for his talent & is asked to become a member of the SmooveGroove collective
99 Jimmy keeps up a busy schedule playing 3 nights a week throughout the NY tri-state area & has by now co-coordinated over 15 events. Around this time he picks up an Akai MPC-2000, A Waldorf Pulse Synth, two TB-303 Emulators & some various studio gear & starts learning sequence & produce his own electronic music.
2000: after numerous residency's have been held down & 100's of performances, 10,000+ Demo mixes have been handed out & have made their way to peoples hearts, Minds & tape/cd players, - Jimmy get his chance to open for techno legend Frankie Bones & finally starts landing gigs playing out of the NY tri-state area & expands to playing throughout the entire East Coast & Canada & College radio circuits.
2001 Along with the SmooveGroove collective Jimmy helps to orchestrate one the east coasts largest dance music events ever "Groove Theory" where he tag teams on the main stage with DJ Circuit breaker in front of over 5,500 people & is told by long time hero & super producer Commander Tom that the performance was insane & that he though the anti-Christ was going to arrive during the set ;)
2002 - Jimmy continues with busy playing schedule & is billed to play alongside his childhood hero Jam Master Jay (RUN DMC) & is featured @ numerous large scale events including Sypmty's Countdown 2k2 where Jimmy plays on the mainstage & attendance is larger than 5,500 [Eternal thanks to Sympty Pauly (R.I.P.)]
2006 Jimmy (With special thanks to Mikie CB) is invited to become a member of the world renown, respected & established HTS / Hard To Swallow Records & Filmworks label & crew. Where he becomes label mates Super talented & true, time tested underground EDM artists: Frankie Bones & Circuit Breaker, Hectic, Decibel Flekx, Xonel Smart, Eric Ryan & Ric Roberts, KO, Richard GoodSpeed, Lou Bamboo & Rich A.M.
