About Me

Adam X is a sonic techno onslaught –crossing the parallels of the many styles of underground Techno, Broken Beat Electro , Industrial & EBM. Adam X penetrates, educates and infuses his audience either though his live performances or dj sets, with a real and vivid thought provoking energy. Adam X brings forth a combination of sound that cannot compare to any other artist around. Unlike many artists Adam X prefers not to pigeonhole himself to one specific genre of electronic music. Instead he prefers to incorporate many different electronic genres into his music. This creates an original and distinctive sound where influences cannot be traced. Like a chameleon Adam X can adapt to playing an event in many different type of atmospheres. From playing a hard as nails industrialized techno set at a hard techno or Industrial/EBM event to playing the deepest of techno or electro in a chilled out daytime open air environment Adam X will never compromise on playing generic & overplayed electronic music styles. What you can expect of him to play is the most upfront forward thinking futuristic sounding, rhythmic, electronic dance floor music around.
Audiophile purveyors can delve deep into the mind of Adam X with recent releases on CD, vinyl and digital format such as the “Fate Unknown” full length on Psycho Dynamics/Alfa Matrix and EPs such as Sensory Deprivation and The Marking of Time. The forthcoming “State Of Limbo” full length will be out in January, 2008 and clip can be heard here on this profile. These are the latest in Adam X's lengthy discography, which spans a catalog of CDs and vinyl since the early 90's.
The history of Adam X dates back to 1990 in New York City, at the threshold of an era of electronic dance music and club culture. In April 1990, Adam X and fellow techno artist, Frankie Bones founded the the Sonic Groove record store in NYC. Throughout the 90s, the Sonic Groove retail outlet was a staple for DJs globally and especially for upcoming DJ talent in New York and on the East Coast. In 1995 Adam created the Sonic Groove record label. The Sonic Groove label has served as a vehicle for publishing electronic music from highly prolific artists such as Kevin Saunderson, Blake Baxter , Dave Clarke & Oliver Lieb as well as many other lesser known but equally as good artists.
In the early 90's, Adam X and Frankie Bones produced a series of music events in NYC, the most famous of which are the legendary Storm Raves. Storm Rave line-ups included then up-and-coming artists Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and Damon Wild and saw attendance in the thousands. From their past and present support of fellow artists and contributions to live music and club culture, Adam X and Frankie Bones have become recognizable figures in techno and the electronic music industry.
In his career, Adam X has performed alongside Aphex Twin, Derrick May, Nitzer Ebb, Andrew Weatherall and countless others. He's performed at thousands of events and club nights globally including Mayday, DEMF, Rex, Tresor , Monox and Fabric. Adam's list of solo commercial releases and collaborative projects on CD and vinyl is equally impressive. A few of the many labels Adam has released music under are Wax Trax-TVT (Mastermix Series Vol. 2), Instinct Records (Adam X 'On the 1 and 2'), Neil Landstrumm's Scandinavia label (Steel Giants), and many projects on his own aforementioned label, Sonic Groove.
Almost two decades in, Adam X's quest of producing, performing, and releasing music has the same ideology as day one, that ideology being to continually break new boundaries within electronic music. Much more on Adam X @ www.adamx.net
