"AN ARTIST DOESN'T PAINT WHAT HE SEES; HE MUST PAINT WHAT HE WANTS OTHERS TO SEE." - Edgar DeGas
Born to a Texas/Montana missionary couple in Buenos Aires, Argentina, who lived most of her life in Brazil, this well-traveled young woman’s musical journey began early.
Eden Moody’s passion for singing & performing began when she was only a toddler. At the age of three, Eden was introduced to the ukulele, and although she did learn to play, she didn’t find it too interesting; this little girl preferred singing grown-up songs! Later on, though, at the age of six, a somewhat shy, yet awesome (to her...) 10-year-old "guitarist," unknowingly awakened in her an interest for playing the guitar by "allowing" her to spy on (and later she’d imitate) his fingering positions on the guitar while he was practicing. She was thrilled when her mom showed her how she could teach herself to play her favorite songs by referring to chord diagram charts!
Eden’s earliest "hits" were recorded in her own personal eight-year-old-home-studio-of-a-kid’s-bedroom on a too-old-fashion-to-explain tape recorder; but amazingly enough, they landed her two grammy awards (bless her soul!)!
Throughout Eden’s childhood and teen years, she performed extensively across Brazil, to audiences of all kinds, mostly in pro of worthy causes. Being brought up in a missionary home in Latin America, Eden was greatly influenced by the gospel music she grew up singing & listening to, which included a wide array of music produced by other missionaries who were also musicians and excellent song-writers. “Gospel music, especially the kind that’s heartfelt and filled with harmonies gives me the goose-bumps! Some of the greatest country legends also grew up singing gospel music, so I guess that puts me in a good place!†says Eden.
In 2003, Eden was "converted 100% to country music†by the very fans and audiences she performed for with her then nameless trio. “At first, we’d only perform old Beatles, Eagles, The Mamas & The Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, tunes, etc; but people kept asking us to sing this-or-that [country] song; so to please our audiences (since they were paying!), we’d go back home, learn, and add those songs to our repertoire. Eventually, all I would listen to and all we, as a group would learn, was country (or we’d make it country!). So I guess you could say that as we mastered our fans’ country song requests, I fell head-over-heels for the genre!—I named our trio ‘COWPIE’ and ‘went country’!"
During her career as a country artist in Brazil, she performed with her trio at the time on the radio, on local & national TV, and in 2005, at the world famous annual international Festa do Peao de Boiadeiro (Portuguese for “Cowboy Festivalâ€), in Barretos, SP, one of the largest fairs of its type in the world.
Since relocating to Washington in 2006, Eden has undertaken the process of mastering her musician skills and has become an active, recognized musician/artist in her community. “…I moved here to study, strengthen my foundation in music, and to focus on writing my own songs. I feel like I am now at an ‘investment moment’ in my life…Life has its way of taking unexpected twists and turns, & I know the next one will come soon enough! - That’s what makes it exciting…that’s what makes it a HAPPY country song (laughs)!"…
Eden’s favorite quote concerning music is, "Musical perfection is mathematical, but musical inspiration is divine." As such, she is determined to make use of the power-packed true-to [and/or] life stories that country music is about to not ONLY entertain, but to also touch, heal, and help others be it directly or indirectly, within this continent and without.
Eden Moody enthusiastically invites all good country music lovers, as well as all those who would support her goals, to be her myspace friends!
