Singin’ Sam

About Me

Sam Halbert, or “Singn’ Sam”, as he is affectionately called by those who have been touched by his songs, began his music and song-writing career while still a missionary in South America. Many a radio and TV show host in Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Argentina, have said of Sam, “His songs speak the language of our people!” Apparently, having been a foreigner most of the time never got in the way of writing a song that would not only be sung by Sam in a different language, but that would also so very accurately reflect the terms, lifestyle, needs, and “language” of that culture.
During his twenty-some years as a missionary in Central & South America, Sam Halbert also helped mentor and direct numerous young people’s musical performance groups.
His latest CD entitled “Plead the Cause” was released shortly after Sam’s return from Romania, the last of many foreign countries he resided in as a missionary. “Plead the Cause”—both the song and the album—were inspired by Sam’s experiences as a missionary. Each song depicts the realities of the underprivileged children and purposeless young people that he has come in contact with over the years.
Sam’s Portuguese and Spanish songs are still much appreciated by the many people who have seen him perform either live, on radio, or on TV, but who, most of all have been touched by his heartfelt encouragement, understanding, and approachable manner, of which his music is merely an extension.
