About Me

Hello all you music fans!I'm Jason Scott Firth as you can gather from my profile. I started out my path through this life of music at the age of 9. That was when I started to learn to play the classical guitar. By the age of 13 I had bought my first electric guitar, a Fender Lead II. I then formed a band called The Reflections and did my first gig at school in front of 350 people. I then found out what nerves were. I never looked back after that, I was hooked. My main enjoyment is playing live, but get great satisfaction from spending time recording new stuff in my studio.Up until about 2 years ago, I had not been out of a band from the age of 13. When I went to high school I got a band together with some friends called Fallen Grace then when I was 18 I joined a local band called Paradise.Mainly playing AOR rock we did o few gigs and some demo recordings I learnt a lot from the band and grew up pretty quick as I was the youngest member. After Paradise went in 2 directions myself going in both directions to play in a new band called Stagefright and a new band called Why the rabbit? Both made up from the members of Paradise, I met Alan Kelly ( Ex SHY drummer ) he was to be the singer in Why the rabbit? as his brother Paul Kelly ( Ex Tantrum ) was the keyboard player from Paradise and now also Why the rabbit? These were fun times playing slightly heavier dokken/Queensryche stuff with Stagefright, and more funky melodic Extreme/Dan reed network stuff with Why the rabbit? After a few years of fun each band went in different ways and I began to play in a duo with Simon Smart from Paradise and Why the Rabbit? This is when I really started to put my singing into action after only ever doing the odd harmony vocal, I was now feet first into lead vocal. Well it's all good practice. A year or so later Simon joined a disco band Called The Disco Disciples and is now known as Frankie!! See myspace friends and he should be their along with Kaid the frontman of the Disciples, who also has been a big influence in my vocal style of late. I then carried on a duo with Paul Kelly from Paradise/Why the rabbit? Until he went to live in Canada in 2004. I then joined a band soon to be called Ember with Dave Reid ( now in " Strange machine " ), James Elliot Williams ( now " D C Fontana " ) also in my friends and the lovely Carol Lee Sampson. Carol taught me a lot about light and dark in her music and how to write meaningfull lyrics she is a true talent and friend, again check her out in my friends. During this time with Ember I also got to know the wonderfull Paul White- Editor in Chief for Sound on Sound magazine. Paul has been a great help in getting me into Mac computors and using Logic and lots to do with recording. Paul has some great friends in the music business and I have had the pleasure of meeting Vo Fletcher ( Played on tour with Fairport Convention ) and Paul Farrer who has written the music to " The weekest link, The Jerry Springer Show and Dancing on ice " aswell as other great achievements in Film and TV. The most recent of Paul Whites friends I had the pleasure of meeting was Gordon Giltrap at a small intimate gig in Malvern, the man is awesome, a big influence on the acoustic guitar and his album Perilous Journey was in my Dads favourites in his vinyl collection. Towards the end of Ember I got to know Brett Taylor-Holmes who played drums with Ember for a short while. Brett and I went on to do some recording projects together and he plays drums, acoustic guitar and keys on Ain't bad luck and drums and keys on Crime scene, and also helped arrange Chillin' Paradise style. Finally a big thanks to Susan Sexsmith Paul Kelly's lovely princess in Canada who gave me some vocal coaching when I visited them in 2006. Susan has taught a lot of big names in the country scene in Canada and Managed The Wilkinsons and Amanda Wilkinson.Hope you guys like my music which for now is a mix of songs and instrumental stuff. In the last few years I have been developing my photography, this has taken a big leap forward this year and have done a number of glamour shoots and some landscape and wildlife work. Please feel free to comment on any of my work and message if you would like to arrange any Portrait, pet portrait, Glamour or any other photography that you may want doing.L8r
