Death is the only certainty in life as we know it. Everything else is mere circumstance.

About Me

Hey

My name is Maurice and I am the bassplayer of a band called Fallen Into Ruin. For more information on my band please follow the link in my top-friends section.

Anyway, for those interested, here is my story on becoming the bassplayer that I am today in a nutshell:

I first started playing the bass during the early nineties at age 17 and have since then joined and/or started several attempts of forming a band, often remaining nameless or dying prematurely due to various reasons, such as: Different ideas on being in a band, different ideas on the musical course, lack of motivation by other members, lack of communication etc… Basicly the usual. Also, because I have been travelling a fair bit in the meantime (Europe, Australia, New Zealand, The Middle East, South-East Asia to name a few places) I wasn’t around all the time and as a result it was sometimes hard for me to keep up with any serious band attempts. However, I must admit that travelling is as equally important to me and as much a part of me as music is, so in a way it substituted well to the missing of being involved in a band.

Then, late 2000, I was asked by the drummer of one of my old bands to join his new band, which I did and I ended up being in that band for almost four years until the band and I simply grew apart and decided to split ways. A few months later (in april of 2005) I eventually founded Fallen Into Ruin, together with Paul and Robert, whom I had met through the means of an advertisement on a website for musicians (for more info and details on Fallen Into Ruin, please check out our band myspace). I have been in this band eversince, but for a brief period of time, during summer of 2006, I have also joined in a band called Severe. However, due to a change in my priorities and different ideas on being in a band, I eventually decided to leave this band as soon as September of 2006. Doing so, this also provided me the opportunity to fully concentrate on Fallen Into Ruin. A decision I still don’t regret to this day.

These days I play 5-string Cort Curbow bass and 4-string Ibanez SDGR bass combined with a Line6 BassPODxt. One could say that music is my life and my drug. I simply enjoy playing the bass, being part of a band and being able to express myself musically.

Cheers for stopping by…

Grtz, Maurice
