WAVES OF MERCURY

About Me

WAVES OF MERCURY (formerly A Thousand Suns) is a studio project/band that was formed by David Richardson and Greg Richardson at the beginning of 2005. We had tried to start this project in 1998 as a full band, but couldn't find the right people. It was put on hold and we formed an instrumental trio with Brandon Sawrey. After a few years passed, the project was started again with David and Greg recording as a duo. In April of 2005, we began writing the music for our first cd.Our goal was to create songs that we would want to hear. Songs with textures, mellow and heavy parts, harmony vocals and interesting lyrics. Our first cd "A Thousand Suns" was written over the course of five months and recorded in our home studio from September 2005 through June 2006. On the self titled cd, Greg plays all the guitar and bass tracks, with one solo by Brandon Sawrey. David plays drums, cello and sang. Lyrics were written by Corey Bryers, with additional lyrics from David. We also had Angela Richardson and Sarah Bauer record violin and viola on two tracks. After the first cd was completed, we asked Brandon if he'd like to join us for our second album. Brandon and David began writing songs for the second album "The Great Darkness" in May 2006, with Greg helping more on arrangements. This album has a lot of the same qualities of the first, but we have added mellotron, a few parts with the main vocal sung with death vocals and pulled some influences from more extreme metal. We hope to have "The Great Darkness" finished and available before the end of 2007.OUR FIRST CD IS AVAILABLE NOW!Anyone interested in purchasing a cd, send us a message on myspace
