The Aurora Project: trip into (my)space

About Me

The Aurora project - Biography
Call them mystical, profound, psychedelic or theatrical: the Aurora Project is unlike any other typical rock band out there.
Instant Magic
In 1999, while playing the famous fantasy card game Magic: The Gathering, the six future members of The Aurora Project become acquainted with each other. They find out that, not only do they all love Magic, they also share a passion for mysterious rock music. At this point, the Aurora Project is a work in the making.
The Aurora Projects music delivers powerful atmospheric progressive rock, where influences by bands such as Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Stephen Hawking and Tool can be found.
After years of rehearsal, in 2001 the band decided to record their first demo in a Dutch publishers studio, CAT Music. CAT Music was so thoroughly impressed by the band, that they provided them with the opportunity to record a full-length album under CAT Musics licensing. The Aurora Project maximized their efforts and produce the concept album Unspoken Words.
In the following period, all efforts were coordinated to find a suitable record company to release the album. In March 2005, the band succeeded and signed with the Dutch record company DVS Records. The internationally oriented label has proved its thorough understanding of the progressive rock market with previous successful releases by bands such as Wolverine, Into Eternity and, most recently, Alias Eye and Voyager.
Unspoken Words The Concept
The concept album Unspoken Words describes a spiritual journey, based on an essay by guitarist Marc Vooys, which centres around the statement I feel, so I exist.
Every effort has been made to emphasize this concept: deep synth-lines, several guest-performers, a storyteller and an entire choir are all featured on this album.
Visually, the concept is strengthened with self-produced artwork, multimedia software, VJ-projections at live gigs as well as a website.
The album is produced and mixed by Arno Dreef and mastered by Sander van der Heide (e.g. Within Temptation, Guano Apes ).
Spread the Unspoken Word
The Aurora Projects debutalbum has been released worldwide (!!) in September 2005.
National and international press stated the band as the best surprise of the festival.
You can leave a message in our guestbook here
With an intense live show and a concept album which receives a worldwide release The Aurora Project is completely set to show theirselve to everyone who is not affraid of joining their journey!
