I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I can be best described as a music/film/comix geek (or hipster doofus for short) who's a pre-press wizard by day. I make pretty pictures for people. Sometimes for myself. draw][robot is a local studio specializing in illustration & graphic design. I also shill out lovely handcrafted items- handmade mini's, comics, prints, and other art-like things. A card carrying participant in The Chemistry Set & local comics collaborative- Panel. Locally, you can check out me & Naraghi every month in Melt via Brainbot Jr. Past and current folks I've worked with: Red Rover Consignment, IDW, Image Comics, Oni Press, Riot Media, Stauf's Coffee Roasters, S.P.A.C.E.,etc.. You can contact me here or at my website for gallery shows, festival queries, commissions, or other sundry projects. Check the convenient links below for more illumination.

*You'll notice the lack of original art in the 'pics' section. I've only thrown in licence stuff due to myspace's photo policy. Which is anything uploaded into 'user pics' is automatically owned by myspace. Images below are links from my website. If you're an artist, I suggest you do the same. Thanks for stopping by.

*A note on banner ads. If I spy a banner ad in my comments it's getting deleted. Art or pics are much appreciated. But blatant ads are something that should be relegated to the bulliten board.

..and now a word from the clowns who coded my myspace page.(I've tried in vain to get rid of this tag)

I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!

My Interests

I've always thought that Mr. Rodgers was a potential stalker. You can see it in his eyes.

I'd like to meet:

Fellow artists, galleries, bookstores, publishers, cartoonists & people of common likes. There is no 'sport-friending' here. If I did that my friend count would be twice the size it is now. Know that this isn't some popularity play with me. Networking folks are mixed in with people I genuinely know or want to get to know. I screen all friend requests.NOT THAT ANYONE PAYS ATTENTION TO THIS: I have no time to check out groups anymore. I friend back NO FICTIONAL CHARACTERS, corporations, films, webcam girls, and or BOOKS/COMICS/WEBCOMICS. Whoever thought 'friending' a book or film was a good idea should be shot. I'll check them out but that's it.I've switched the friends list to random. A couple people got weird about the 'Top Friend' thing so I changed it. Pfft. It's myspace, c'mon.*Any spammy comments will get deleted. I don't post art or any promotional banners up on folks comments unless requested to. No offense.

Music:

I signed up with last.fm. List updates, I guess.

My friends joke, if it's a band you've never heard of Tom's generally into it. My general opinion is you have access to a world of music on the internet. There's no excuse (save a slow connection) that 'Oh, there's nothing but crap top 40 on the radio'. Explore a little. Site's like last.fm would be a start. In the car: The Doves, Comets on Fire, Aesop Rock, Tom Waits. Last show I was at: Besnard Lakes @ the Wex.

Movies:

fav directors- the Coens, Jarmusch, Hartley, Burton, Beat Takashi, Won Kar Wi, Mamet, Jeunet ( Amelie, City of...). All time faves- City of Lost Children, Fisher King, Sonatine, Dead Man, Touch of Evil.Recent flicks- The Lives of Others, Once, 30 Days of Night, Juno, Control.

Television:

TV by large sucks. But when I do I find myself watching the History Channel, the new Doctor Who series, Heroes, LA Ink, The 'Ville, 30 Rock, Family Guy, Venture Brothers, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. I'm a bit of a news junkie. I watch the News Hour, Chris Matthews, and Meet the Press religiously. When I can: The Daily Show and Colbert Report.

Books:

..Books with a lil' Williams in them: 24 Seven vol.2, No Formula, Lifelike, Comic Book Tattoo, Panel, No Dead Time, Monster Engine, etc.

Heroes:

I don't really have heroes but I'll list some influences on the creative end: Jim Jarmusch, Jeff Smith, Anselm Kiefer, Philip Guston, Tardi, Baru, Gipi, Bill Watterson, Jim Dine, Jeff Soto, Noam Chomsky, Paul Pope, Daniel Clowes, Hal Hartley, Chip Kidd, Wes Anderson, David Cross, Tom Waits, Lucien Freud, Kent Williams, David Mamet, Dave McKean... and you.
