Originally from the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection (Philadelphia); I've been playing congas and other hand percussion instruments since 1969 when I started with the Late Arthur Hall - choreographer and director of the Arthur Hall African American Dancers and Drummers. I started Soul In Motion Players, Inc in 1984, a non-profit performing arts organization specializing in Theatre, African Drumming, Dance, and Spoken Word. It has been a wonderful ride directing this group. I've had the opportunity to work with many talented artists over the years and the blessings are continuing today as the group now features 8 dancers and 5 drummers. If you're ever in the Washington, DC metropolitan area stop by and check out one of our performances. You can visit us on the web at SIMPINC
For the last 10 years I've been the percussionist for the 4 Kings of Rhythm and Blues featuring Lloyd Price, Jerry Butler, Ben E. King, and Gene Chandler. Travelling with this production has allowed me to perform in just about every casino in the United States from Connecticut to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and many locations in between. Other key moments in my career include performances with Ben E. King's band, Gladys Knight, Yolanda Adams, Ron Bankett, Stephanie Mills, and the late Toney Fontaine.
One of the highlights of my career was forming a band in 1989 named Street Signs to perform in Cameroun West Africa. The jazz quartet included bassist Eric Butler, drummer Wardell Thomas and guitarist Tony Cothran. We were truly blessed to have the opportunity to spend time in Africa and perform in the city of Douala for about 10 days.
I also cherish the opportunities I've had to perform with numerous international artists including Aster Aweke (Ethopia) and Persian Pop Stars, Mansour, and Andy, who is considered the top Persian singer, selling over 6 million albums

Music Is The Universal Language

I truly believe that music is the universal language. Have you ever observed how you and other people respond when watching or listening to an artistic presentation? We're almost oblivious to what is ...
